Hi, what's the simplest way of forcing emby for kodi to do a rescan? Whenever I add or remove something from my library kodi never updates it or it takes a long time to update. On the Apple TV 4K, the infuse app has got a simple little icon you press to refresh information from servers. And it completes it in about 5 seconds.  Kodi for Emby seems to have nothing like that, and I can't even find any way of doing a manual refresh. Is there any setting on Kodi for Emby that will refresh the server library when you start Kodi or start Emby? Failing that how do you do a manual rescan?

And before you ask, yes I have the Kodi companion installed on the server 😊 I expected that to make changes in the library reflected almost immediately. But it doesn't.

Well first it should sync automatically on Kodi start and also when Kodi is already running, but this are two different cases.

So let's start with the first case, startup sync.

Please send me a Kodi log after you started Kodi and waited, let's say 2 minutes.

Also you you try 11.X version. I fixed one absolute edge case issue, but who knows. Maybe you are affected.

Thanks.

Actually I found that if I remove a file directly from the library in the Emby app (rather than manually removing it from my computer file manager) this is reflected immediately in Emby for Kodi. But I would like to know, in case sync starts misbehaving , how do you actually do a manual resync in Emby for Kodi? Sync is fine when it works but when it doesn't work there doesn't appear to be a way of forcing it to check the server library.

in the emby for kod net gen SERVICE plugin configuration menu. Sync menu -> manage libraries -> repair libraries.

Thanks, but unfortunately that doesn't work. I deleted an episode of a TV show, and emby for kodi didn't recognize that it had been removed. Ran the repair libraries, nothing changed, nothing removed. (Although it did acknowledge it couldn't be played) The Emby app has acknowledged it doesn't exist anymore, but Kodi emby still lists it. I have to click on manage and then manually remove it from the library

Well, the ultimate reset is a factory rest in plugin menu, it will wipe all settings.

I did that recently on some other emby setting, and was aghast that it reset absolutely everything on Kodi, not just Emby. Will the factory reset on the plug-in menu reset just Emby or absolutely everything on Kodi?

All Kodi databases including external content and the plugin settings will be wiped.

Kodi settings like skin settings etc are untouched.

Why isn't there an option just to reset Emby? This is crazy.

A repair sync was the reset, you said it didn't work.

I would suggest, take a full Kodi backup if you afraid something goes wrong.

btw, with 11.X upgrade, a database reset will be mandatory (incompatible).

You can also remove it manually from Kodi. Just hit the delete key (that's a Kodi stock function).

Okay well I think I might just start from a totally fresh kodi install, I was having issues even playing a file from a USB source tonight, so I've messed around with kodi so much I think I might have screwed it

What's an absolute edge case? I tried searching for this but could only find you mentioning it 😊

What's an absolute edge case?

Connection to emby server from internet behind a couldflare proxy and only if the server reports in rare cases a http error 500 or 522 due to a Emby database error. I doubt it's affecting you.

If you start fresh, still use 11.X. It's very stable already and you would avoid a database reset when you upgrade from 10.X.

Ok thanks. I'll try restarting with 11.x tomorrow. But I noticed it's in public testing phase. If it gets updated to 11.x stable, will that also trigger a complete reset of everything?

No, only from 10.X to 11.X.
