Mistimed DVDSUBs

I have a file with DVDSUBs that appear to be timed correctly in MPC-HC. However, played over Emby, the subtitles are sometimes delayed or early. Sometimes they delay, and then briefly flash before moving to the next line. They do not get further out of sync as the video plays, but the individuals lines are a bit all over the place.

In this case, the videos plays fine without any stuttering — it's just the timing of each line that's the issue. Is there anything I can do?
