Emby Theater Playback Disappears

Hello All,

FYI.

Playback seems to have been affected after the last Windows update on 8/29. KB5041582. While in the middle of watching a recording, the playback disappears and the desktop shows in it's place. I am running Windows 10 Pro, ver 22H2, build 19045.4780. After I uninstalled the update, things are working normally.

Interesting.... did this happen on various files? You didn't happen to catch/save the logs from the Emby server when it did, did you?

It only happened playing back recorded live news. The server is a different box running windows 7 pro. I attached partial log file during the period in question.

Has anyone else run into this display problem?

I have paused Windows Update and hoping someone can take a look at this issue before

resuming updates.

Have not seen a issue with ET 3.0.20 and use it daily but don't do recording/livetv.  If crashing back to desktop then I would guess there should be something in the Event Viewer for this type of crash.

Windows 10 Pro on as Slate 7.

It doesn't really crash. The video that was playing disappears showing the desktop and the audio continues playing. Very strange.

Hi, yes that's really odd. We'll have to keep an eye on this to see if more reports come up about it. Our new windows app is also imminent, so stay tuned for that.

So the app is still open but player window is transparent showing the desktop while still playing?

Sorry for the late reply Happy2Play. To answer your question, yes the player stays on and continues to play only the audio. And the desktop is showing in place of the

video playback.

I paused the Windows update when I first started this thread until today. And after KB5041582 was installed earlier today, the aforementioned problems resurfaced. So it is definitely the cause.

My HTPC is still on Windows 7 - and I too started experiencing this. The only difference on my setup was that I updated Emby Server to  4.8.9.0.

My exhibits this behavior when there's an on screen button, like Skip Intro, or Keep Watching or Next Episode. 

Following - I thought desktop E.T. was abandoned.
