Hi, I would like to use emby for my media files, but also as offline disc library.

Idea is, that I can show my guest all movies, even the offline discs.

But that should contain the same infomation like the mediafiles

  • disc type: 4K , 3D, bluray etc. Shown by the cover with cover art -> at the moment I can only do that, by naming the file instead of .disc to .iso and only dvd and bluray are possible.
  • perhaps recieve video- or mediatype over nfo?
  • Show in the movie detail, that it is a offline disc. -> perhaps over cover art? but how?
  • also nice would be to show a user comment or storage place notice

How did you guys working with offline media? I love emby, but also my offline media, a combination between them would be great.

thanks

You can also use as an alternative method:

Not all of that would be feasible/possible:

Emby relies on ffmpeg to provide media info (and CoverArt subsequently on that); as your files are basically blank files, there's nothing for ffprobe to probe/obtain media details; you might wanna take a look at Iconic plugin for an alternate solution/indication as it has certain filename rules.

Not supported (and likely will never be due to potential/likely mess that would create).

Emby currently does not provide any means for that distinction (can be somewhat mitigated by using Tags).

As above, there are currently no provisions for user added notes in the UI (can be somewhat mitigated by using Tags).
