Better layout for system 4K UI

Hi Experts,

My TVBox has native 4K UI. The emby android TV client does not looks good as in 1080p.

There are two much space between movie posters. i.e. whatever library style I choose (large, middel, auto etc.), the client always shows only 4 posters per line.

Can you think about to use responsive layout for the poster wall so that more posters can be shown on one screen???

 

p.s. I tried android phone app as well, still the same issue.

Of course I have

None of those options solve the problem.

With smaller poster size, there are even more space between the posters which looks really ugly.

Can you show us a screen shot?

What device are you using?  Is it truly an Android TV device?

I can be sure that you are not in 4k UI of the device!

In 4k UI, all fonts will be much smaller.

Hi guys, just try to get an android TV device with 4K UI support, and you will know what I mean.

Not only the poster wall, but there are other iseus as well - for example the progress bar when playing the media is shortened.

Hi.  Can you try searching for our standard android app (Just "Emby" on Amazon and "Emby for Android on Google) on the same device's app store and see how that compares?

That looks like probably a knockoff Android device not really certified for TV.  The standard app may work better since it isn't using a true Android UI but, also, you may be able to set the DPI values on the device to be more correct and then the other app will work properly too.

Hi Luke,

As I said at the very beginning, the emby app (for phone) has same behavior with the TV app. i.e. same issues on 4K UI TV box device.

If you have Zidoo Z9X 8K, or Shield TV 2019 pro, you can reproduce the issue.

p.s. tried Jellyfin on the same device. JF does not have such issue.

Today I found some time to retest the standard app. 
I have to say sorry about my conlusion before (due to my bad memory) - the standard app does not have the layout issue with 4K UI, it can perfectly show posters with smaller size.

However, the TV app looks much pretty than the standard app on TV. If possible, it is stil worth to enhance it to support 4K UI in a responsive way.

For the time being, I close this thread as the standard app can solve the most critical issue - gap between posters.

Hi.  It already should for true TV devices that report their pixel density correctly.  You may be able to correct the DPI somewhere in the device settings.

系统设置里，有些系统可以改的，神盾好像不行
