As777 27 Posted August 26, 2024 Posted August 26, 2024 When I want to change settings in the server using the standard Android app on the Shield via my TV it is really frustrating because every time I move into a text box the virtual keyboard pops up and I have to exit it and move down to the next one and the same thing happens again. There is no fast way to change or update certain settings because of this. A more optimal way needs to be found when editing settings via the TV layout,
Luke 42077 Posted August 26, 2024 Posted August 26, 2024 Hi, yea I can see how that extra click would get old after a while.
As777 27 Posted August 26, 2024 Author Posted August 26, 2024 (edited) it's not actually just the click, it's really slow to move down, wait for the keyboard to pop up, exit the keyboard and then move down again, wait for the keyboard to pop up etc . you're talking quite an amount of time to change a parameter at the bottom of a page. im not sure if your reply was sarcasm but it's not just a click. it's a design issue because the TV has no mouse to move or touch screen like a mobile phone does. . Luke 42077 Posted August 26, 2024 Posted August 26, 2024 Right well it's not by design of the app. It's just normal behavior of what happens when a text field receives focus.

I get that but to have a page with several text fields one below the other that the user has to navigate through in sequence that will make the TV app keyboard popup is not good design. I didn't say it was done on purpose. it's fine for desktop and mobile and you have said that the standard android app is also the future for the TV version. therfore for a unified solution the design is not quite good enough. Not all the settings pages have only text inputs, so moving down through these fields to togglr a button is quite frustrating. Edited August 26, 2024 by As777 1
