Files not showing up

I just tried enabling debug logs (until next log file rotation) and I can see that the setting was applied (as there are now debug log lines). I then initiated a rescan of a library where a handful of files are not being added, and there is absolutely nothing recorded in the log file related to the library scan, so I have no way of figuring out why the files aren't being added. Some of them are actually getting nfo files generated, but they're not being listed in the library.

It's looks complete and correct with a TMDB ID and everything. I've attached some screenshots showing that the library only contains one file from the directory, the directory itself with files that aren't shown in the library, and one of the nfo files.

Those items have likely been multi-versioned under "Ramp It Up!" as your NFO for "Slim & 6-Pack" contains tags:

If you enter "Ramp It Up!" movie detail page, do you have multi-version dropdown under Video part of MediaInfo row?

Ah you nailed it. The behavior of grouping into a multi-version or not is inconsistent in this library then. For all three directories with multiple files, the files are named as <Dir>_ <name> <year>.mkv. And out of the three, this one and TurboFire both have both a singular movie entry in TMDB for the whole set and a separate movie entry for each individual video, but 21 Day Fix only has the individual video entries. So I don't know how to rename the files to have Emby ungroup them, and I don't see a context-menu option to ungroup them manually. Removing identification still has them all stacked as one multi-version item.

There should be "Split Versions" button at the bottom of movie detail page; split and re-Identify incorrect items.

etc. 

ID Tags in Folder & File Names

Note that not all of those files visible in your folder (don't know if there are others present) have a movie entry on TMDB, for example Cardio Core Express can only be found as an episode under Slim in 6 TV show.

Ugh, after ungrouping them they won't collapse into a folder in the folder view like the other two folders do! 

I did see the TV vs Movie listing, but then the other sets don't have a TV listing and the both have way more files so Movie library should give the least amount of files I have to manually provide metadata for. I'll try putting the IDs in the file names, and use that one blanked out movie entry for the cardio one. Maybe I can contribute an edit to TMDB.

I deleted the NFO files and added the TMDB ID in the filename, and on rescan Emby grouped them back together! However, after splitting them again it did identify them correctly from the ID in the filename. It's not really a big deal on it's own (we never really use these anymore I'm just making sure I've moved everything over from Plex), I just like to understand why things like this are happening.

In the first screenshot I posted you can see that I have the Folders view selected and that 21 Day Fix and TurboFire are displayed as folders. But Slim In 6 is displayed as a single grouped multi-version movie. When I ungroup it, it looks like this, with all the files under the Slim in 6 folder shown at the root of the library (web, windows desktop, and android) instead of showing the folder for me to click into (like it does for 21 Day Fix and TurboFire). It's just not clear to me why these three folders aren't being processed the same way by Emby.

Ok then. 

1. Remove all Slim in 6 items (or complete folder) from your root

2. Scan library to clear the db

3. Add folder with one/single item back (any except Ramp It Up) 

4. It'll likely be misidentified as Ramp It Up - reidentify as correct movie

5. Add another item as per 3. & 4. - it'll likely again be misidentified as Ramp It Up but it won't multi-version as there's only "single" Ramp It Up present now, reidentify

6. Continue adding other items (again, except Ramp It Up) and reidentifying them correctly

7. Add Ramp It Up as last

Do tell how does it compare, do they all show inside single folder now?

1. Moved the whole Slim in 6 folder out of the library folder
2. Rescanned the library, confirmed they were not listed
3. Went to scheduled tasks, rotated the log, and turned on debug until next rotation in the log settings
4. Created a new empty Slim in 6 folder and added just the Burn it Up mkv (not the nfo) with TMDB in the filename
5. Rescanned the library. The single file was added as a top-level movie.
6. Added just the Start it Up mkv file with TMDB in the filename (again, not the nfo file).
7. Rescanned the library. They're again grouped as a single multi-version movie.

Was the movie correctly identified at this stage? As Burn It Up? Or as Ramp it Up?

In #4 it was identified correctly as Burn it Up. In #5 it remained as Burn it Up and had Start it Up added as an additional version.

That really should not be happening, neither is naming convention for multi-versioning used nor providerIds are the same. 

Let give it another spin with slight permutation:

1. Remove all Slim in 6 items (or complete folder) from your root

2. Scan media library to clear the db

3. Rename all the movies dumping that underscore, i.e. Slim in 6 Slim & 6-Pack (2010) [tmdbid=447441]

4. Add folder with one/single item back (any except Ramp It Up), confirm it's identified correctly

5. Continue adding other items

6. Add Ramp It Up as last

7. Post server log so we can see queries made

1. Remove all Slim in 6 items (or complete folder) from your root

Removing the underscore and adding one at a time worked. I'm finding that odd because the underscore has been my convention for when the title has a colon for years and years, I think even Handbrake and MakeMKV default to doing that too. I have the underscore on the files in 21 Day Fix and TurboFire too, and those worked automatically. I've attached the debug logs from both attempts to recreate the folder.

It is common enough replacement/substitute for colon (though personally don't fancy it, I'm more fond of space-dash-space or dropping it altogether), but in this particular case it shouldn't actually matter as you have providerid tags in filename ion which queries are made. 

@Lukehow is it possible that these two items get multi-versioned, as per OP's first test?

The grouping is based on file names. For this content a home videos library would have been a better fit rather than movies.

True but they are on provider site.  But will guess since all items were in same folder folder name and parsed file name were used making everything "Slim in 6".

 

If each were in their own folder they would have been identified differently and may have used providerids.

But why weren't the 21 Day Fix and TurboFire folders grouped together the same way then? All three folders had the same naming convention where the files have the <folder name>_ as a filename prefix.

I'm just chasing the published metadata with the library type, it's in TMDB and not TVDB.
