dcruff 15 Posted August 25, 2024 Posted August 25, 2024 (edited) I just noticed that one of my movies was not showing up in the Emby Library. The Movie is Shorts (2009) and is stored along with my other thousands of movies in it's own folder. The Folder is in Z:\Movies - MKV\Shorts, and is an MKV File called Shorts.MKV Emby completely ignores the file unless I rename the movie folder to something else. I've named it 'Star Wars XII', 'Short Circuit', as well as other names to fool it into recognizing the folder. When I do that, it recognizes the movie's existence but sees it as the name of the folder, rather than the name of the movie (of which the MKV file is named). In those cases, I can go in and use the 'Identify' option and select the appropriate movie name and Metadata, even though the name of the movie folder is incorrect. I'd love to have someone else duplicate this problem by renaming one of their movies to 'Shorts' and see if it disappears from their movie library. And when I say disappears, I can't even find it in Emby by looking through the 'Folder' tab. Emby just can't see it if it's named 'Shorts'. Update: I just renamed the folder to 'Shorts (Really, that's the name), including everything in parentheses, and Emby found it and correctly applied all of the prober metadata for the movie 'Shorts'. Then, I deleted everything in the folder name after 'Shorts' and it disappeared again. Edited August 25, 2024 by dcruff
Luke 42077 Posted August 25, 2024 Posted August 25, 2024 HI, yes this is sort of reserved as a type of movie special. You may just have to rename it for now.
Solution dcruff 15 Posted August 25, 2024 Author Solution Posted August 25, 2024 OK, I just found an acceptable fix. I don't always keep the year with the movie name, but I just changed it to be 'Shorts (2009)' for the folder name and the movie name and everything is fine. Are there other names that I should stay away from? Less than a third of my 5000 movies have the Year integrated into the title of the movie. 1
