JBloom91 31 Posted August 24, 2024 Posted August 24, 2024 Emby doesn't seem to like these two albums, as the end result looks like this: https://musicbrainz.org/release/5b08376d-7284-4f06-9959-cc65374f49dc https://musicbrainz.org/release/8f4f1ffe-2d6c-4315-8440-b143851470d1
Luke 42077 Posted August 24, 2024 Posted August 24, 2024 Hi, have you checked the data embedded within your audio files?
Luke 42077 Posted August 24, 2024 Posted August 24, 2024 Just now, JBloom91 said: Multiple times over, yes. And what did you find?
Happy2Play 9780 Posted August 24, 2024 Posted August 24, 2024 In the end we will need to see what ffprobe sees on the tracks but usually always comes back to embedded metadata. ffprobe -i "pathtotrack" 1
JBloom91 31 Posted August 24, 2024 Author Posted August 24, 2024 You mentioned this before Happy, but I won't lie, I don't understand what you mean by that, Is that a command in Emby I need to execute?
Happy2Play 9780 Posted August 24, 2024 Posted August 24, 2024 No you have to use ffprobe.exe and probe your tracks. You can see the command in your log file when you import the album into Emby. You can download it yourself or use the one that comes with Emby in the system folder. example Quote 2024-08-23 11:14:16.997 Info MediaProbeManager: ProcessRun 'ffprobe' Execute: C:\Users\Media\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\system\ffprobe.exe -i file:"E:\Media\Music - emby metadata\Undersaken\Swords of Fate (cassette)\2. JBloom91 31 Posted August 25, 2024 Author Posted August 25, 2024 (edited) Nothing happens when I launch it. I still do not think it's a metadata issue. I've been cataloguing and maintaining my downloaded music metadata through Musicbrainz & Picard for almost eight years, I'm incredibly meticulous about everything being tagged correctly, down to the catalogue number and the media type. Even so, if I can get this probe to run and display data, I will share it so we can touch the bottom of this swamp. When it comes to music information and cataloguing, I'm great. When it comes to tech stuff like launching certain programs and looking for logs and such, I am admittedly a dummy. Edited August 25, 2024 by JBloom91

JBloom91 31 Posted August 25, 2024 Author Posted August 25, 2024 If you don't mind, could you give me the rundown as to how exactly I find this information? The probe exe seemingly does nothing, even if I run it as admin, is there a specific spot I can go to find these logs?

I have tried the command string you posted (albeit modified to my own file paths) like ten times and it just keeps giving errors. I do not know what I'm doing when it comes to command prompt stuff, and it's starting to fluster me something fierce.
user24 313 Posted August 25, 2024 Posted August 25, 2024 As these two MALL of FURY albums are freely downloadable from Bandcamp, I downloaded the FLAC versions to see if I could help: The direct downloaded files imported correctly into Emby with the basic info shown correctly. Running through Picard - no problems importing Running through Mp3tag - no problems importing Looking at your screenshot with the errors, I did wonder if you had two Album titles separated by a semi-colon e,g. "English Title; Japanese Title". If this was the case, then perhaps Emby is not recognising the Japanese characters, but also Emby does not allow for multiple Album titles (AFAIK) so the semicolon character appears in the Album title (I could replicate this). Maybe this gives you some clues? If not perhaps someone else can download the Albums and try to figure it out? 1

I have my files in wav but so far this hasn't been an issue with more albums (there have been a few but I'm assuming if I can fix this issue here I can fix the rest). I had the thought that perhaps the library just wasn't updating their data correctly, so I removed the albums from my library, scanned, restarted, restarted again cause a plugin updated, re-added the files and then scanned again. But they still came out messed up on my end.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted August 25, 2024 Posted August 25, 2024 Didn't see you could bypass the digital amount. But yes I don't see a issue so we need to see the ffprobe of the track but showing what any tag editor shows may help also.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted August 26, 2024 Posted August 26, 2024 As long as all the other track show correct Album then I have no idea as I got the wav format version also and tagged with mp3tag without issue. Ran through Picard also without issue

Finding and resolving a specific example can lead to understanding the root-cause of wider problems. Troubleshooting problems can also sometimes be a frustrating process of elimination (especially if not knowing all the technicalities of any system). (FWIW) Here's something else you could try: Temporarily remove your problem WAV files from your library and store elsewhere. Rescan to remove any data from Emby system. Download the equivalent WAV files from Bandcamp. Run through Picard. Rescan your library. If the new WAV albums show correctly in Emby, then perhaps there is a problem with your specific WAV files? If the new WAV albums show the same error, then perhaps there is a hardware/software/structure/settings problem with your specific Emby setup? 1
JBloom91 31 Posted August 26, 2024 Author Posted August 26, 2024 So after much troubleshooting and doing those steps, there seems to be a bigger problem at play. I had temporarily renamed them to random album names within Emby, but even after deleting the files completely and redownloading them they had my edited album titles despite not locking the titles, refreshing metadata and rescanning the library as well as removing identification and replacing it. It also seems to not want to import tags (vaporwave, electronic, etc) not only on these two albums but another album that is having the same issue with its title and not importing tags.

Hi, why do you think it doesn’t want to import tags?
JBloom91 31 Posted August 26, 2024 Author Posted August 26, 2024 1 minute ago, Luke said: Hi, why do you think it doesn’t want to import tags? Because the genres and tags are not updating at all for these selected albums. I even went ahead and updated a random artist to see if Emby just isn't pulling data and it was able to pull and add the artist description from TheAudioDB, so it's almost like it'll update some files but not all for some reason.
