Gilgamesh_48 1240 Posted August 24, 2024 Posted August 24, 2024 I seem to have noticed that the level of activity on these boards is less lately than there have been in the past. I can't be sure as it is just a feeling i have but it most assuredly seems like the activity level is lower than I ever remember it. There are a few possible reasons: 1. There is less activity because of it being summer. 2. Emby is more stable than it has been. 3. The numbers of people using Emby has dropped. 4, The number of people using Emby is actually higher but they are reporting problems less often due to any of a number of factors. 5. People are frustrated by the nature of current problems. There is more really elusive bugs that people are tired of posting about. 6. People are abandoning local streaming in favor of using content in other forms like streaming services. I could go on but I will allow others, if interested, to expand the list. This is just an observation and I tend to lean in the direction of it simply being summer but the lower usage seems quite clear to me. I just do not know the "why" of it.
ebr 16169 Posted August 24, 2024 Posted August 24, 2024 Hi. I believe 1, 2 and 4 are the primary reasons.
Sammy 790 Posted August 24, 2024 Posted August 24, 2024 I basically don't have any issues so not much of a need to post.
Smitty018210 143 Posted August 25, 2024 Posted August 25, 2024 I still pop in here from time to time, but I made as A** out of myself with Luke a few months back when I was off my meds. (mental heath) Still trying to live that one down honestly.
One2Go 120 Posted August 25, 2024 Posted August 25, 2024 Totally agree with @ebrand his assessment of 1, 2 & 4 since that is my case. However, I disagree with 6 as I want to watch stuff without commercials/adverts. Those 18 minutes of crap in an hour TV episode I will never get back.
Chyron 256 Posted August 26, 2024 Posted August 26, 2024 My primary topic of concern is audiobooks, so I only pop in occasionally to voice my continued frustration about the lack of support. 1

I have given up on Emby ever supporting audiobooks in a way useful for me. I think a lot of my complaints are more directed toward Roku as that is the client i primarily use. The problem is that Roku, in any app, will time out and force exit back to the main screen after a time and that does not work for me as i sometimes want to leave a book paused for long terms and then press a single key to restart playback. That is when I start a book I want to have it playing into my whole house audio system and restart it at any time without having to reload the Emby app and then navigate to the book to restart it. Emby, for me, is just not currently suited for my audiobook needs but I can see that it could be if the client I want to use could be configured to work the way I want. I do not think that proper audiobook support, or lack thereof, is a reason for less or more activity on these forums.
jachin99 88 Posted September 7, 2024 Posted September 7, 2024 I quit using WMC and have very little to contribute at this point.
