I received the following error message: "Repository add-on repository.kodinerds does not have any directory matching 21.2.0 and won't be able to update/serve addons! Please fix the addon.xml definition"

Also, I am attaching the log file.

The kodi nerds repo has nothing to do with the next-gen plugin.

that's the problem.

EMBY.emby.http: Socket IO WEBSOCKET: (): Timeout

I see you are playing content other than Emby content. Maybe that's the problem? Is there any pattern when the timeouts appears. Is the Emby server down at some point?

Can’t see anything relevant in Kodi logs. Was hoping to see something clear like, accessing file X on https://192.168.1.2/tvshws, an6 idea what I need to enable from default? Also to add - Music files are playing back OK, and they are setup in exactly the same way in terms of Windows Server 2025 NFS shares and Emby Library folders with native paths.

Thanks, I can see Kodi tries to access this path:

smb://192.168.1.2/scifi/Babylon 5 (1994)/Season 01/BABYLON 5 (1994) S01E01E02E03E04.ISO

1. Is the path correct?

2. Did you mount the shared network path in Kodi?

3. Can you browse the path in Kodi's filebrowser?

4. The filename is all uppercase, is this also correct?

I checked the log again. I also see a lot of timeouts from internet sources:

CCurlFile::Stat - <https://image.tmdb.org/t/p/w780/gsZGmETTuGQOjog0lrBnMhzzQG9.jpg> Failed: Timeout was reached(28)

This is not coming from the plugin, but it's an indicator that you network (or internet) is down at some points as even Kodi cannot access network based resources.

No, the Internet is good, but I have some blocking...  I tried to use VPN and other solutions, but the TMDb API is not stable enough from Kodi. Because of this, I prefer using emby. It has a stable connection and preloads a lot of information. Thank you for your careful reading.

I am also attaching the new log file. What do you think about these rows?

1. Is the path correct?

The path is correct. But it’s an NFS share, not SMB so not sure why it’s trying that with SMB share prefix

2. Did you mount the shared network path in Kodi?

Yes, the shares are added as Sources in File Manager, assuming that means the same thing.

3. Can you browse the path in Kodi's filebrowser?

Yes, I can even browse into the ISO containers.

4. The filename is all uppercase, is this also correct?

Yes all my ISOs are saved with that syntax, I use an strm file to map scraped episodes to the correct ISO

Ok, than it cannot work for obvious reasons. Question 2-4 is obsolete then.

Without additional info, I can only guess. I assume you already tried a plugin's library repair sync.

1. Did you use smb in the past, that would explain why it worked before. Frankly, I think it's not really a plugin issue, but I'll check it.

2. Do you use network paths on Emby server for the library and if so, check it and post it.

3. If not, I need details of your folder you use on Emby server.

This is due to an issue in Emby's Kodi repo. Plugin cannot update to 11.1.22, but that's not a showstopper. You can update it manually if you wish, but it will not solve any of your network issues. I'll fix that soon.

The core issue still stands, you have network issues. There is always the option to disable Websocket completely, but that's not really a solution and you would lose the capability for realtime updates from Emby server to Kodi (when Koodi is running).

Alternatively, I could also add an option to hide the websocket messages, but this is also not a valid solution the the network issues.

I continue log review...

Any way to get IMDB ratings to work while using next gen plugin?

 I’ve tried 100s of different things and the closest I’ve come is using Tiny Media Manager to write the nfo files. But in every skin I’ve tried it just shows as a user rating. If I generate nfo files with both TMDB and IMDB ratings (in TMM) it will show the IMDB rating as user rating but shows the TMDB correctly. Is there some combination of settings/skin/procedures/media manager or tricks to get Kodi to show IMDB rating? I’ve searched and read every forum post etc. I could find but just can’t get it to work. Any help greatly appreciated!

On my skin, it shows the imdb ratings correctly:

3. If not, I need details of your folder you use on Emby server.

1. I can use smb yes, but no, I've always used NFS in the past

2. Yes I use Network paths in the Emby Server

If you recall I said playback was working for the Music Folder, not the Video folders. Well I think the reason is that I had an SMB Share setup for Music, as well as NTFS as my Blusound streamer can only access SMB shares. Well I think its highly probable that Emby is finding the SMB share instead of the NFS share for music, as the IP/sharename is identical.

So to test this I just added an SMB share for that Scifi share, added it as a Source in FileManager, and lo and behold the B5 ISO referenced above now plays back when accessed from the video wall scraper.

So I think the issue is, that with a path as shown here in Meta-Data Manager, for whatever reason when you select it via Emby NexctGen, it is automatically assuming it is an SMB path instead of an NFS path.

Correct, cause your path substitution reflects a Windows network share and that's turned into a smb:// share (so Kodi can parse it). The plugin mapping is correct and your substitution is wrong for nfs.

a nfs substitution should look like

nfs://192.168.1.2/scifi

After fixing, you need a repair sync on Kodi/plugin

btw, if you use addon mode, it doesn't matter what the network path substation is (even it's wrong). It will always works.

Only for ISO (which must be played natively) it matters.

OK, this looks like it will allow me to fix things.i really appreciate the help.

Need to point out though, this has previously worked without this issue, albeit between CoreElec updates and using NextGen 11.x over 10.x previously something changed. Likewise the path used in Emby server I always followed the syntax example in the Emby Server UI when you add a library, and with this syntax successfully played back files irrespective of using SMB versus NFS shares, I preferred NFS simply because they don’t require user/password on local network.

I just upgraded my Kodi 21.1 from 10.0.47 to 11.1.21 yesterday. I'm noticing a lot of lag when navigating Kodi suddenly. I performed a complete database reset through Emby For Kodi twice now, and am still seeing it. After browsing around a while, the issue appears to be related to Kodi playlists. And more specifically, I believe I've even narrowed it down to a single playlist that is causing issues. All of my media is added via Emby For Kodi, and things were going just fine with 10.0.47

The affected playlist is something I made called "Random Episodes". It creates a playlist of 50 random episodes from my entire collection of episodes. There is a bit more filtering than that, but that's the gist of it. I have a widget for this playlist on my homescreen, and it takes MINUTES for this widget to load now. It took no time at all with 10.0.47. I can edit the playlist without issue in Kodi, but if I try to display the contents, Kodi says "Content Loading" and it takes honestly nearly 10 minutes for the playlist to load. I am not exaggerating that in the least. I powered on my laptop, logged in, and wrote this entire message while waiting for the content to load. I've noticed that my other widgets that are made from Kodi Playlists have a bit of lag in loading as well since upgrading, but this is the most serious one which appears to be slowing down Kodi in it's entirety.

I'm unclear why updating Emby For Kodi Next Gen would have such an impact on Kodi playlists, and I guess that's for you to figure out. Here is the XML of the affected playlist:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes" ?>
<smartplaylist type="episodes">
    <name>Random episodes</name>
    <match>all</match>
    <rule field="tag" operator="isnot">

I used your playlist and it's loaded instantly. Must be something within your config which causes the issue. I doubt that it's plugin related as xsp only uses internal Kodi functions to process the playlist.

e.g. you could even disable the next gen service plugin and see if something changes.

I can have a look at it but therefore I need a kodi debug log and you need to enable the component specific logging for "Database".

Is it possible it's related to my library being added in Native mode, rather than Addon? We also just discovered today that UpNext is no longer automatically playing the next video. This seems like it could perhaps be related. I don't know how, but it's another oddity that I can't explain on a system that otherwise had no changes.

I can work on getting a debug log for you tomorrow. I may downgrade back to 10.0.47 afterwards, because getting MultiVersion support isn't worth the hassle right now. I may also downgrade just to prove that I'm not crazy.

I got a debug log. Looks like I click the playlist around at 2025-02-20 22:30:05.137 T:5529. After that it's all Greek to me. I think it opens about 8 minutes later or so. You also mentioned perhaps it is an issue with my config, so here is my config file. I tested disabling the plugin as you suggested, and this didn't have any effect. And I didn't expect it would. I suspect the issue (if there is one) would lie closer to node creation? I'm poking around in a clone of my MyVideos.db, and nothing is jumping out at me. I did notice that the same db from a 10.0.47 backup from earlier this week is like double the size of my current db file.

The log looks more or less clean. Meanwhile I also tested in native mode and still no issue. I see, you have embycon installed. Please disable it and test again (no need to uninstall it). Maybe they interfere each other.

Also try to disable embuary helper plugin (if possible).
