hey quickmic, here is the log - hopefully we can get to the bottom of why it isn't working, I love the skip intro feature!

kodi.log 1.27 MB · 0 downloads

2025-01-24 11:54:29.314 T:4345 debug <general>: EMBY.hooks.player: PositionTracker: Position: 188550000 / IntroStartPositionTicks: 0 / IntroEndPositionTicks: 0 / CreditsPositionTicks: 0 / SkipIntroJumpDone: False

The skip intro markers are not set. Usually means, they are not existent on Emby server and therefore not synced to Kodi as well. Did you check if they exists on server side?

Which Emby server version?

Which Emby server version?

Version 4.8.10.0

The file I tested on is the same one that worked last week, and the same one that worked some time before that (with some time in between not working)... heh..

I just restarted Emby and the same thing still. How do I check about whether they exist on the server side? But like I saId, I have seen skip into on this episode many times, as I have been using it for 'testing' recently.

The skip intro task last ran 20 hours ago, ran it again. No diff. The libraries have it set to mark the skip intros (as a scheduled task and when added)

I do know that quite often the 'fix' to get it working , is to load some different version of emby-nextgen. Quite a few times upon upgrading or downgrading it works again without doing anything to the server.  However, it doesn't always.

Play the same file via Server's WebUI and check if skip intro is offered.

ok that episode, no, it doesn't. but the 4 after that do have it.
for some reason it is losing the skip intro entries for some of these episodes...

I did refresh metadata and that doesn't help either. Very weird, either way, it comes and goes it seems. Not sure how to get it back

Try a "refresh metadata" on Emby server for that episode

did that, but didn't work

Then I realised, I should probably run the scheduled task - now it works again (running the scheduled task did nothing prior to updating the metadata)

The annoying thing is, I usually come across it when watching an episode, and, updating that episode later is pointless as I have already seen the episode

Will have to see how I can best handle it going forward when I get these issues again :(

tnx for ur help, and if you have any ideas about how to handle it in future let me know ;)

actually, I have two episodes here that have a skip intro in the browser and not in Kodi
Updating metadata and running the skip intro task does not fix it in this instance as the server already has the skip intro info, kodi obv does not

Then try a library repair sync on Kodi

that fixed it. Any idea what can be causing it - to work in emby browser, not in Kodi, and need to do this?

Because Emby server does not report skip Intro marker changes to Kodi when it's the only metadata info that have changed.

right. well a 3rd episode of a show came out today, i ran the scheduled task (which I now have running every 30mins anyway) and the skip intro is there in the browser...
but not in Kodi.
I did repair library, and it's there.. but surely I don't have to do that all the time? Is there a quick way or a way to schedule a repair if I am going to need to do it so frequently.. kinda annoying

any help appreciated.

edit: I did have in the library setting to do intro markers on scheduled task and on adding to library, but it wasn't adding when adding to the library, and since I have a task now running every 30mins, I changed the setting to only be on a scheduled task.

i removed the episode in question - re-added it, the task ran, skip intro in browser. Not in Kodi.

I would suggest you fix the core issue. Figure out why the Skip intros are not added in the first place (on Emby server). There is no need to run any tasks on Emby server, the skip intro markers should be added on library changes. Did you check the Marker options in your Emby library settings?

some files work, some don't

If I create a new library , the folder I add into the new library when I create it are all working fine. But if I remove an episode and add it back, it no longer has the skip intro.

However, if I run the manual task, it works - but then won't work in Kodi , because as you said, a metadata change doesn't push through.

Metadata changes are pushed, but not SkipIntro (Marker) changes (only).

Library settings looks ok, was it always as the screenshot or did you modify it?

Usually the intro markers never changed after you added content to Emby and they are all synced to Kodi (cause it's new file and all metadata changed).

If the markers are not available when added new content and you add the markers later via task it will not be reported. However, this should not be the case with the library settings in your screenshot.

If no metadata changes reported to Kodi at all (you can test that by renaming an episode), that's an different issue and has nothing to do with markers. Then it's probably a websocket issue etc.

If the rename works and you have a file which has markers on Emby but not on Kodi, you can rename the file as well (as a test). You will see the markers will be updated without trigger a repair sync on Kodi. -> Emby reports the (name) metadata change to Kodi and the plugin will update all metadata including the markers.

That's why I mentioned, the core issue should be fixed. The markers must be added at the time the content was added to Emby.

As you mentioned, some content don't have markers on Emby and you need to add them via task, that's the issue. I assume you have several episodes on Emby server without markers, so you need to fix them all on Emby server first and then trigger a repair sync.

And if you configured Emby probably adding all markers on content added, you will never run into this issue again.

My screenshot has always been this way - my library is meant to add intro markers on content added. I renamed an episode and it came through to kodi changed okay

Where Emby or Kodi or both?

And was the renamed file added to Kodi and the old one remove?

I tried removing the file from emby - renaming, and readding. No markers in either. I tried then renaming an existing episode (e3) to e4, it updated in Kodi, but neither had markers.

Ok, that's what I expected. Emby needs the markers before the content is added to Kodi. I don't know why Emby doesn't add them automatically as it should (according to your Emby library settings).

I also tried doing a brand new Emby docker installation with one TV library (with the intro marker for when media is added) - then I added the third episode into the directory, and no markers.

Do you use real time monitoring in your Emby libraries? Cause I don't. Should make any difference, but who knows.

yeah, that's always enabled on my libraries. tried turning it off, and then adding the episode - same thing, no markers in Emby browser.

Hello,

First time trying version 11.

-----

For version 11.1.21 no ISO based media multi-version selection is opened. The movie will auto play. Thinking this use scenario was missed in this release? Works in v10. I know there was work to switch to a Kodi native version of multi-version selection that was introduced in Kodi v21.

-----

I also notice that the beta.kodi.emby.tv and the kodi.emby.tv repositories are still pointing to version 10.0.47 version. Can we get at least the beta.kodi.emby.tv repo updated so it points to the new public testing builds? I accidentally kept migrating back to version 10 because it is listed in the versions dropdown.

Please eleborate. Autoplay does not necessary mean, multiversion was not detected. This depends on Kodi settings and how you triggered playback as well. e.g. widget Playback usually plays default version. -> I'll also run a few tests...

I think you didn't updated the Emby's Kodi repos. The new ones points to the correct versions.
