Some of my music is saved in vinyl or cassette format, with A & B tracklisting, but even when updating the metadata directly from Musicbrainz the tracklisting still does not correct itself. Would there be a possibility of adjusting Emby in the future to support non-typical tracklistings, or would there be a way to fix this?

Hi there, can you please provide a specific example? Thanks.

Hmm I don't know if any testing has been done with A-B tracklisting.  Will have to see if I can test this.

I had a quick look just a while ago...

It seems that the Track field within Emby only accepts whole integer numbers (1, 2, 3, etc.)

Therefore you can't assign A1, A2, A3 or even 1.1, 1.2, 1.3.

Placing say(?) A1 in the embedded track field imports into Emby as blank.

It's interesting that you can assign negative numbers and these show in reverse order, -1,-2,-3, etc.

So a workaround (though perhaps not ideal) could be to assign negative numbers to the A side and positive numbers to the B side.

That's about as far as I got...

Certainly. For instance, Swords of Fate by undersaken (https://musicbrainz.org/release/21dce8f8-9bbf-43f5-a0cd-53a9ad6482c0) has a tracklisting of A1-5 and B1-5, however Emby does not recognize any track listings because the metadata for the album in my collection is listed A1, A2, A3 etc instead of 1, 2, 3

In Emby, track numbers are numeric, so the server probably had an error parsing them.

Worst case I can just manally reapply the track numbers as long as the metadata refresh doesn't nuke them lol

I would just edit the embedded metadata and then run a normal library scan.

Tried that, still won't pull images from TheAudioDB for these two.

Did you right click on the album in emby and go to edit?  Then external ID's and see if the musicbrainz ID for the album was correct?

When i have a temperamental album the first thing i do is open MP3Tag and erase all the extended tags.  Then let MP3tag add the metadata back.  This will embed the cover art and if you right click on the poster it shows you can save it as "folder" jpg. Then see what it shows after you refresh the album in emby.

I see the art for the one album is more of a poster, not a square cover.  I always go out and find the correct aspect ratio to be a folder image for use with emby.  You can add this image quickly also using MP3tag.

Sometimes, you just have to just go out and add metadata manually.  Thankfully its just an occasional thing.

Having spent years converting my album collection over to 1's and 0's, us album nerds are all about side a and side b, but i changed all my track listings to be just numeric because honestly there aren't many things that support A & B track listings.

Good luck!
