Sluip 0 Posted August 22, 2024 Posted August 22, 2024 Hello! Long time user of emby. Lately I've been having trouble using using Chromecast and emby from my server. Emby runs in a docker container on Unraid and I'm using the beta version. The problem has persisted for at least the last 4 versions (currently on 4.9.0.29). The description of the issues is as follows: Sometimes during playback while using chromecast, the playback will suddenly stop. There's no error message on screen. It returns to the chromecast "idle screen" as if it someone went to the app and pressed disconnect from chromecast. I am able to instantly connect to the chromecast again using emby, and resume playback. At first I thought it might be certain encodings/files, but it's been happening with many different files. There's also no corruption in the file itself, I can playback without issues right away again. We also have 2 chromecasts in the house and it happens on both of them. I can't rule out completely that it's a network issue, but it doesn't happen for any other chromecast related apps (HBO, Netflix, etc.), so I doubt it. It also didn't happen before with emby. I've attached an example of when I know it disconnected for sure, as well as the emby server log. Hope we can get to the bottom of what's happening, as it's becoming more and more frequent. Love the product in general! Sluip ffmpeg-transcode-80fec97d-6d1b-40c1-9b5a-8636b05adcab_1.txt embyserver.txt
Sluip 0 Posted August 23, 2024 Author Posted August 23, 2024 Hi Luke, What do you mean "certain"? It's happened with a variety of different video files from different tv-shows and movies. I haven't found a pattern yet as to what type of file, if there is one
Sluip 0 Posted December 12, 2024 Author Posted December 12, 2024 I'd like to know how to proceed in investigating this issue. This is now happening on a daily basis, sometimes several times per episode or movie. Whether it's transcoding or not, and all types of files. I've bought an Emby lifetime subscription and hope to not have to always deal with this . There's no pattern, and I can always immediately reconnect and resume playing. This does NOT happen when chrome casting with any other mobile application, not even once.
Luke 42077 Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 Hi, are you able to update to the latest version of Emby for Android and see if that helps?
Sluip 0 Posted December 18, 2024 Author Posted December 18, 2024 Hi Luke Sure, I'm happy to try anything. It looks like I'm already on the latest version, which in my play store was updated on the 7th of August Is there a better/different source for updating the app?
