Yes I was actually taking it from vhs and encoding it should be up in a day or so.

 

Now when I got off the phone I smoked a fat one. And now here I am. With an idea and request and I will pay if it is allowed.

 

A coming soon or availble soon plugin. Let me add my own custom made dvd cover and enter a description or even if i cut a piece of it out i can show a trailer. That way it keeps my family in the loop of whats coming and they can expect it. I have over 1700 vhs tapes i have made of my family throughout the years and this is a very big pet project of mine. And I would love to know if this is possible.

You can use media stubs or strm files for intended purpose, just create "Coming soon" or "Available soon" library and populate it with stubs/strm files.

Can you help me understand this exactly? stub? and how would I create a stream file from a .mp4 or .mov or in same rare cases .wmv

Basically, you'd create "placeholders" for the upcoming media, just create blank text file named same as movie and rename it with .disc or .strm extension, Emby will see those as actual movies and it would download appropriate metadata/artwork/trailers - it'd look the same as if those movies were present in your library.
