Emby Connect User - Authentication failed on server

Hello,

I currently have an account for a member of my family and the emby connect that he is using is working properly. I am able to log in from my side on his account, however, even if the user is added to my emby server, he is getting "Invalid username or password entered" whenever he attempts to connect to the server (by clicking on the server from the emby connect page). I have no firewall in place and or IP filtering that could block the connection.

I took a look at my server's log and I can see the error "Invalid username or password entered". I can provide the log if needed.

(I did a manual backup to put emby to a new machine (Centos 9) to be able to have the newest version. All the other users are working properly but this one seems to have an issue.)

 

Do you have any idea what would cause a mismatch between emby connect and the user on my server?

There was a previous issue with the forum upgrade and the security setting causing issues Wednesday/Thursday but was resolved.  I just currently checked by login in via app.emby.media with Connect login.

So if users are still having issues devs will need logs and specific information.

If you can see the login attempts on your server then it sounds like they are confusing the difference between Emby Connect and your server authorization. With Emby Connect they sign into our servers and then use authorization on your server that you've already granted.

So basically, if you want them using Emby Connect, then they should use the dedicated sign in screen for that. There are buttons that say Sign in With Emby Connect. Otherwise they would use the managed credentials of your private server.

Hello Luke,

They are using emby connect to be able to sign in from the emby app. I did link an account on my server to their emby connect account so the authorization should not be an issue or am I getting it wrong?

I am going to try to do a password reset to see if it fixes the issue.

I fixed the issue by unlinking the account and linking it again.
