If metadata fetchers are Movie metadata downloaders. then see below

Strange. Try unchecking and rechecking them. Then try refreshing metadata again on the movie or series.

Tried but make no difference

Personally once a person has been imported I have never had a media refresh refresh the person.  Requires person level refresh.

So testing People is almost impossible as it is an only done once situation.

Please can the following be answered.

1. Does Emby process metadata for Music and movies differently.

How many Emby libraries have you created, and what folder paths are added to each one?

I have 8 libraries in total.

All are on my Truenas Core NAS.

On the Emby server there is a mapped drive Z: All libraries use the following Z:\cartoon, z:\ movies etc

Trading places is under z:\video, not z:\movies

Is it possible you're getting the library options mixed up between the two? Can you please check the library settings for the z:\video library?

The list of people for that movie, yes. If you don't currently have an image for any of those people, then it may pull in one from moviedb or tvdb. It doesn't do person-specific metadata at that time though.

Don't know the entire issue here as entering person image is gotten/displayed so will guess written in db on initial import.  But OP is now forced to enter every person to have image displayed.

Don't know it was an issue at import or not as people really are tricky when they do not work as expected.  But download in advance is a factor here also during first import, correct?

No, for people this option is not used as it could result in hammering moviedb/tvdb servers.

As a test, can you try spinning up a separate portable install and see how that compares?

Apologies for the long delay in providing any update.

FFS!  yes.........  am I mad at myself. Metadata was locked.

Sometime ago I meant to put in a feature request asking to move the metadata lock option from the bottom of the list of options to the top and change the the colour of the menu option like the image below.

To stop olde gits like me falling into this trap 

Whilst I haven't checked ever single movie, it is working better so will mark as resolved. 
Look forward to my request being considered.
