Directors cut PG13 vs R18 adult rating e.g Rebel Moon

Is there a metadata source or official way to automatically obtain the correct viewing rating for movies that have differently rated special editions.

A real life example:

https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/848326-rebel-moon-part-one-a-child-of-fire

is a PG13 but the Directors Cut is an R18 which should be filtered from my kids profiles.

I realise I can manually change this on a per movie basis but that feature is really intended to allow parents to reclassify something to their personal tastes whereas this issue is that its been scraped and classified incorrectly in the first place.

Not that I know of, as no providers that Emby uses make that distinction nor have separate entries for different cuts/editions.

In your own example, "Director's cut" is just an alternate title of that same PG-13 movie.

yeah this seems to be a problematic area to deal with in general and with the success of this and Justice league it will likely just keep happening now since its MUCH cheaper than making two movies and proven profitable.

Rebel Moon 1 and 2 directors cut add hours of footage and was shot to be exist i.e there was always going to be an adult version.

In essence its potentially a whole new classification of movie release.

Does anyone know what `certificate #54784` refers to in

No as it really isn't explained.

Certificates | IMDb | Help

But would appear to be the MPAA certificate number.

I do not think I have never heard of that site before albeit it looks quite useful.

Is it safe to assume then that unless this whole area becomes a bigger problem in general it is going to stay firmly in the "parents manage it yourself" camp?

Pretty sure TVDB/TMDB have rules about different editions as metadata applies to all versions the same.

In general they are not added.  But I do see some has added these cut ratings to TMDB but have no idea how the api will handle them.

TheTVDB Support Center

Have no idea if Luke could even parse these version as they are by certification date of media types.

In general all additional cuts will require user edit and is sort of a issue in Emby unless you manually split them then regroup them.
