Big_Sexy 0 Posted August 16, 2024 Posted August 16, 2024 Hey, Hopefully someone can help me out with this, I'm running Emby 4.8.8.0 in docker on Ubuntu Server 24.04 with an Intel A380 for hardware transcoding. For some reason I'm unable to hardware transcode VC-1 encoded files. If I disable VC-1 under the advanced tab on the transcoding menu, the file plays fine. Any ideas why the gpu is unable to transcode? ffmpeg-transcode-869d1122-8369-492b-9051-053b158d75cb_1.txt
Luke 42077 Posted August 16, 2024 Posted August 16, 2024 HI, please attach the main emby server log as well. thanks.
Big_Sexy 0 Posted August 16, 2024 Author Posted August 16, 2024 Apologies, should be attached now. Thanks! embyserver.txt
handspiker2 6 Posted August 17, 2024 Posted August 17, 2024 Intel Arc removed support for VC-1 from quicksync. It shouldn't be attempting to use the GPU for it. https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000098345/graphics.html https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Quick_Sync_Video#Hardware_decoding_and_encoding 1
Happy2Play 9780 Posted August 17, 2024 Posted August 17, 2024 Interesting that Hardware detection is still picking it up then.
softworkz 5066 Posted August 23, 2024 Posted August 23, 2024 I wouldn't be so sure yet. Those documents are assuming the use of the oneVPL dispatcher, while we're still using the MediaSDK (mfx) dispatcher. Now, on my Windows machine, VC-1 decoding is working fine via vc1_qsv and an Intel ARC 380 discrete GPU with task manager confirming that there's load on the 380 rather the integrated graphics. Before drawing conclusions, let's equalize conditions... @Big_Sexy- could you please download this test file and test whether transcoding works in this case? https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwxFVkl63-lEcU1ScWZuMjhpOXM/view?usp=sharing&resourcekey=0-Kw7GSvWtpTG5WNFXvJXxNw (Source: Kodi Samples Wiki) Thanks!
