Subtitle inconsistencies in DV and HDR content

When watching Dolby Vision content, subtitles appear to be bound to the aspect ratio picture. That is, they do not go into the black bars. My LG app allows me to push the subtitles to the complete bottom of my TV, which is preferred.

Further, HDR and other content seem to be ignoring the subtitle size I have imposed. My subtitles are set to 'Small' but they are massive in one HDR movie I tested with.

These are in all cases text based / SRT subtitles, not image based.

Hi.  Yes, the player we use currently restricts the subs to the video frame.  Please see:

Let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!

It looks like the HDR issue was happening because it was detecting my subs in another language due to file name. So only the first issue is relevant now.

I posted photos to the thread you linked showing that this issue does not happen on the LG version of Emby.

Yes because the player on the two different platforms is different.  For us to support this on the Android platform, we will have to make customizations to the player used there.

I've seen talk about changing the external player for videos, is that something that can be done by users in Emby? That might change the result we are seeing.

I am also getting wildly different experiences per title, so maybe the container has to do with it as well?

This example is when my subtitles are set to the smallest size possible, and they're massive. "normal" floods onto the picture in a wildly large size.

This would come down to whether or not the video has the black bars still in it or cropped out.
