This is probably answered somewhere but I can't find it.

Back in the day I was able to pay to unlock Emby playback on a single device. It was called "Unlock Emby for Android TV" and it only allowed playback of my local server content, none of the Premiere subscription options. It was a one-time payment and was only good for one device.
Has this option disappeared?

That I am recommending Emby to a lot of people and they tell me that I have fooled them and that's a paddlin'

Thank you very much.
I will try it today in the afternoon when I come back from work, actually it is my acquaintances who are telling me that this option does not exist. So I will take an Android TV on which I don't have it installed and try it there.

Thanks again!

Same for me, the users on my server can no longer unlock features individually; they're only given the option to subscribe to the premium plan.
I love EMBY, but if the policy shifts in this direction, I'll move everyone to JELLYFIN, It's unfortunate......

Yes, I reported this issue before: In terms of unlock feature: Yes it's either broken or missing. Like the devs mentioned there is a Android TV version out now allowing playback for up to 5 users without unlock.

However they recommend to use the standard app on TV as well, which still needs unlock but unlock is broken here.

All in all it's a total mess right now. But it seems they are working hard to get things more clearly right now which is a good thing 👍

They probably gonna push everyone to subscription. The biggest problem here is: The benefit of the subscriptions features for users outside the US is nearly zero as most of the stuff is blocked or unsupported here in Europe. Therefore I hope for a unlock option or a Premiere (Light) option.

I was initially supportive of this switch until I realized that they got rid of the one time payment for extended devices in favour of a monthly payment only. I have never reached the device limit with my usage so far but if I ever do I will likely move things over to Jellyfin. Knowing that there was the option to do a one-time payment for more devices was the reassurance I was banking on if I ever needed to grow my setup. A monthly payment doesn't appeal to me and would be a significant deterrent to me.

The value is so poor imo that I would rather buy multiple life time licenses and run multiple servers rather than pay monthly for additional devices. The only way that option makes sense is of you are going against the terms of service and charging users for access. For personal use it doesn't make sense.

We are in an age now where every person in a house has their own smart tv, phone, and sometimes tablet. Not to mention smart TVs in the common areas. 30 unique devices in a 1 week windows isn't out of the question for an extended family.

I've been using Emby Premiere for several years (7 to be exact) and never had any real problems with payments.

Now I have a new credit card, and for the last two days, it's been declined. It's the same provider as always, just a new card number.

I've updated all my information, but the card keeps being declined, and I get an email saying "Payment failed."

It's just so frustrating. When I contacted the provider, they said to wait 24 hours... (That wouldn't be a problem, but using Emby right now isn't an option).

And no, PayPal isn't an alternative for me since it's always worked flawlessly.

I hope something happens soon; otherwise, I'll probably have to go back to the alternative, even if it's not ideal.

I know no one here on the forum can help me right away, but I just wanted to vent.

Not sure I got that right: you'd rather opt for sub-optimal solution than use PayPal?

I must be missing something here...

You do whatever you fancy, mate, it is your money. For me, that reason is completely abstract, payment method to be the deciding factor. But to each their own, I guess.

Completely agree.

Let me shortly describe what i went through past few days. I had Premiere for 10 years, bought lifetime and than extended lifetime. So i had 45 devices with new (wrong) calculation.
I have like 20 ppl family and friends. On top of my premiere licensees around 10 people BOUGHT / UNLOCKED androidTV apps when it was possible. In last week i started to change
apps form TV version to new unified android.

At the end, emby server blocked alot of people because "i was over the limit 🙂) Simply unbelievable and not possible in any universe. i had 45 + 10 unlocked. And that super mega feature where emby need 7-8 days to drop old device is super dumb if u ask me.  Anyways i needed to wrote this just to show where emby devs have gone...., and how they are simply killing their user base.

Jellyfin is already installed, heavy testing ongoing, really good results for now. Alot of new quality apps are available, just search for it, moofin, fladder , etc...
For anyone interested, only thing jellyfin cant do right now is very big music library, there are some small issues if u have really big music library, everything else is on par with emby, or even better (spotlight for example).

If you haven't tried it yet, I'd highly recommend Wholphin for a Google TV client. It was just released last year but it's my favorite client app currently. Compared to Emby, the UI is much better and it fixes almost every issue I've had with Emby lately that the devs here refuse to address. Plus the fact that it's open source is a huge bonus for me since I was able to easily add the couple of changes I wanted myself.

Hi.  Please send an email to billingsupport@emby.media and they can help you.

Thanks!
