visproduction 315 Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 Is this expected? Would it make more sense to show all resolutions, or the highest instead?
Happy2Play 9781 Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 But the version is chosen by the client. Believe the first imported item represents the media. So when you select Edit Media it is for the 720p version shown correct?

So when you select Edit Media it is for the 720p version shown correct? Going into the 1080P.nfo file and changing the dateadded value to be before the value from the 720P version will update the library data info to 1080P. So, it appears to be the oldest dateadded is used. There is no easy way for the user to adjust just one media version using the Metadata update options. (By the way, I tried also updating the File creation, accessed and lastwrite time for all media and nfo files and that made no difference.) This works, but it's hardly user friendly. Maybe something to consider to either add all resolutions comma separated, there is plenty of room. This info takes up a whole line, or pick the highest value, instead of the first dateadded. I don't think anyone cares which version was added first. I think it's more important to know what is the highest resolution available. 1080P media shows in Library media poster info because dateadded is earlier <dateadded>2020-01-01 20:13:37</dateadded> <title>Star Wars</title> <originaltitle>Star Wars</originaltitle> 720P media no longer shows in Library media poster info <dateadded>2021-07-30 20:13:37</dateadded> <title>Star Wars Episode IV - A New Hope</title> <originaltitle>Star Wars</originaltitle>
Happy2Play 9781 Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 So in theory the highest quality media should take control and become primary no matter when added. But Emby has always used first item for all information.
visproduction 315 Posted August 14, 2024 Author Posted August 14, 2024 (edited) Happy, Yes you are correct. First media loaded shows as resolution. Should this feature change? Does anyone care or even noticed? I vote B for multiple resolutions to be listed. What does everyone else think? Code wise, this does not seem that easy to do. So, perhaps, it is not worth it. A ) Don't do anything - first media loaded shows as resolution value. To date, hardly anyone ever notices this anyway. Not worth changing. B ) Show multiple resolutions separated by a comma... 720P, 1080P C ) Change to highest resolution to be listed in library info so the user can see which media has a higher quality playback from the library page. Happy2Play 9781 Posted August 14, 2024 Posted August 14, 2024 If I were to choose it would probably be C. As for B you run into issues where users have more than 2 versions or say both at same resolution asking why it is duplicated.

Certainly, we could be smart enough to not duplicate them if people have versions for reasons other than resolution. Given that, aren't there really only 4 possibilities? So the max the line would probably say is: SD/720p/1080p/UHD And, maybe we omit the 'p' for this display? Realistically, I doubt there would be any such media. Mostly probably just two...
