Stuza 2 Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 (edited) Hi Emby, First issue report so, not sure what to put. Server is windows 11 All over WiFi 6/gigabit network Clients 2*Nvidia shields (both native Emby player and VLC tried as use external player). Media is self ripped from my DVDs, episodes of Cheers! (Photo attached) Symptoms: at some point during playback the video will freeze but the sound continues. After a few more seconds random coloured pixels appear. A few more seconds later the audio will then fail. Eventually spamming the home (circle) button I will be returned to Nvidia home screen. Emby will not work though, requires a reboot. Very easily repeatable on both Shields (1 is a pro model) it happens almost EVERY time but at what appears to be random intervals. My Firestick 4k plays these files ok as does my Windows PC using Emby Theater (and web client) and my LG Web OS install. Shields play other Emby content perfectly OK, including 4k stuff, although I think the Cheers episodes are the only ones I have as this format (MPEG2Video) 2 Logs uploaded from the pro model at 2235 and 2240 on 12th August (GMT+8). Can't post my full Emby name as it's revealing but, it ends with "1974", hopefully unique enough to help identify the logs or PM me for exact name. Is that enough or can I provide more info? Thanks for help! P.s. I've tried various settings right throught to factory reset of Shields, no change. Edited August 13, 2024 by Stuza Additional tech details
ebr 16169 Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 Hi. What format did you rip these to? Don't reboot the device. Instead, double-click the home button on the remote and this will show you all running apps. Move to Emby and arrow to the "X" and click it to close. Now go back into Emby and re-send the log.

Double click doesn't work, the Shield is crashing big time. It feels like some sort of memory leak. Even when it does eventually start responding (after some time!) even killing Emby in task manager doesn't work. Format? Isn't that the MPEG2VIDEO I listed above and shows in the print screen?

Yes, eventually, but to play ANY videos in Emby I have to reboot the Shield. But this is going off topic. This is not the problem, the problem is Emby crashing in the first place. 19 hours ago, ebr said: In what container? MKV. I've uploaded the logs which, I would hope, detail all of the technical info. Are you not able to access them?

You shouldn't have to reboot the Shield. You should just be able to force-close the app. 3 hours ago, Stuza said: But this is going off topic. Please try force closing the app then then re-starting and sending the log. Thanks.
