Emby for Android vs. Emby

Back from plex to emby now on a Chromecast with Google TV.

still have the same problems as the past years. Problems with showing subtitles on external videos (with the use of .strm files).

Emby for Android: No subtitle or other playback issues. Wonderful, but the design is so 1990, no where close to the regular Emby design. And no option to show collections on Home Screen? Why?!?! Every other app can do that when I need to go for good playback I need to use this, but it is just ugly and missing some features.

Emby: whatever I do, it never play the same as Emby for Android app. The Emby server is just transcoding the hell out of my CPU and GPU, 100% so it always crashing the playback because my whole pc is working on the transcoding.

 

why on Emby for Android no transcoding and shows all subtitles correct and the regular nice looking Emby is just a blackhole? I’m really getting frustrated and don’t know what to do.

 

i know, there is a EmbyCon addon for Kodi. But if you know the Google tv got not that much of storage and there is no way to mount network drives. Also EmbyCon ain’t that good, for example if I finish watching South Park S26E03 the nest episode it will start is S04E01. Also EmbyCon is dropp8ng the connection to Emby server to much, so when I watched 5 episodes sometimes it just mark 1 or 2 episodes as watched.
