renecd 4 Posted August 7, 2024 Posted August 7, 2024 I'd like to have my TV go to screensaver/off during audio playback. The player is a Mibox Android TV player. It has a screensaver, but the only options are sleep, backdrop and colors, and when I pick sleep it switches off the device and the other two just changes the backdrop, not really save anything. In Emby I only find one reference to screensaver, in settings - playback - allow screensaver during pause, which is also not what I'm looking for. The Mibox has it's own audio out, going directly to my speakers, so having the tv running is waste of electricity. Any solution?
Luke 42077 Posted August 7, 2024 Posted August 7, 2024 Hi, what version of the Emby app do you have installed?
renecd 4 Posted August 7, 2024 Author Posted August 7, 2024 Server: 4.8.3.0 Android TV app: 2.1.15g registered.
Luke 42077 Posted August 7, 2024 Posted August 7, 2024 Hi. Can you try searching for our standard android app (Just "Emby" on Amazon and "Emby for Android on Google) on the same device's app store and see how that compares? Thanks.
renecd 4 Posted August 7, 2024 Author Posted August 7, 2024 I found and installed it. Looks nice, very similar to Emby for Android TV, and seems to cost $6-7 per month to use, is that correct? I didn't immediately see how this would fix the problem, and in any case, I can have the tv running for a long time for that cost.
ebr 16169 Posted August 8, 2024 Posted August 8, 2024 Hi. You would need to "unhook" some of the CEC functionality so that you could turn off the TV without turning off the MiBox. That should be possible if that's what you want...
renecd 4 Posted August 8, 2024 Author Posted August 8, 2024 I can do that already, but it requires me to pick up the TV remote and switch it off. Yeah I know this may not sound like a big deal, but then where do you draw the line. It ought to be possible for Emby to switch to black screen (screensaver) upon playing audio-only, then the TV would automatically switch off.

renecd 4 Posted August 8, 2024 Author Posted August 8, 2024 That makes no sense. It should be an option. Nobody force anyone to use it if their equipment don't support it.

Our standard android app plays music using a background service and I think it should do what you are wanting it to do.
renecd 4 Posted August 9, 2024 Author Posted August 9, 2024 Why is there an Emby for Android TV if Emby for Android works on Android TV? Why have two apps? Why is one free and the other paid? I'm confused.
