Can't add songs to existing m3u playlists

I'm also having this problem.  I have m3u playlist files created outside of Emby, and now I can't add any new songs to them.  I get the popup that the song has been added, but when I go to the playlists, nothing has been added.

I have many m3u music playlists.  I can see and play the playlists in my music library, but when I try to add a song, no playlists appear in the dialog box.

Here are the playlists:

And this is me trying to add a song to a playlist:

If I make a new playlists, I can add songs to that.

I'm running 4.8.8.0 on Synology.  Log is attached.

Were those playlists created by a different user?

They were a pre-existing part of my music library.  They were not created in emby.

Correct library m3u imported playlists are not really editable via Emby.  The do not appear on the list to add content to.

They can be deleted is about it.

Sort of need some distinction between user and library playlists.

Or a way to bulk import library playlists.  I'm fine keeping my existing ones as backups, but I have so many that point-and-clicking them song by song into Emby isn't going to happen.

Sorry what do you mean as that is a library option.

If library playlists can't be modified and user playlists can be modified, then it would be good to have a way to import library playlists into user playlists.

Since user controls are applied via the database this can't be done unless only applied to admin user then maybe.

But these are library provided playlists with media and are usually very specific to an album.  Or at least every one I have was created by tagging program for said album when processed.

@krislarsare you able to create a new playlist and add songs to those?

Yes.

My workaround is adding each playlist to a new playlist (thanks for this option! so much better than song by song). But then I have two copies of each playlist, one that can take new songs and one that can't take new songs.

OK you really should be able to add to these playlists. I think this might be corrected in thebe 4.9 beta channel. We’ll have to see if it can be back ported to 4.8.

I have this problem as well and it is extremely frustrating.  I spent an enourmous amount of time creating playlists with another app before I had Emby.  None of them would work with Emby though they were in the m3u format.   I created a few playlists using the Emby App.  I went ahead and moved them to my Music Library Playlist folder and labeled them prefixed with the Server Name.  Since they were appearing multiple times I deleted those from the the Emby data file, now I cannot add new songs.  And it won't let me copy them back to the data file.  I stopped using Plex because there was no Playlist compatibility with other software.

Hi, what do you mean by "deleted from the emby data file" ?

You have a specific example but most likely it would come back to the path used in the file.
