See this answer by Generiq, it will maybe solved your problem, it's good for me since on Windows 10 and now on Windows 11 with HDR always activated on Windows display settings :

I'm experiencing the same bug reported at the link below with brightness changes at fixed points on various media.

https://github.com/mpv-player/mpv/issues/12756

Is anyone else having issues?

The new Theater app hopefully fixes the issue.

Read the whole conversation. The explanation and solution are provided.

Hi Luke, I've been away so haven't tried the fix yet.

Hi Luke, yes that's fixed the problem but it turned off hardware acceleration when selecting unset so I added the following which has also resulted in a nice boost to tone mapped brightness without any clipping. I tried a few target-peak numbers and 100 looked the best.

EDIT: target-peak=auto also looks good.

Very happy with the result, I always thought Theater tone mapping was a bit dimmer than potplayer or kodi now it looks identical.

hdr-compute-peak=no
hwdec=d3d11va-copy
d3d11-adapter=NVIDIA
target-peak=100
