Cannot restore backup to 4.8.8.0 from 4.7.11.0 (Emby Premiere)

Hi.

I succeeded installing version 4.8.8.0 and I would like to restore backups made in 4.7.11.0. I have Emby Premiere subscription.

For example, in 4.7.11.0, I have several, such as:

But, configuring the same in 4.8.8.0, I do not see any backup. Even, I restarted Emby server twice:

In this /mnt/Movies folder, the backups are in fact there:

Any clues?

I am paying Emby Premiere for features like this...

Thanks!

You can't, but what are you trying to restore?

About all you can get would be userdata via a legacy plugin and manually copying folder back to their correct place, but some things have become db only like library config so that folder becomes useless now.

Backup and Restore is version prevalent as everything changed from 4.7 to 4.8 with different methods.

I am trying to restore all the settings from the previous server: users, library locations, all kind of scraping options and preferences...

I expected to just restore the last backup, restart the server and re-scrap the libraries to get the new server running again very easily... Just to avoid running tediously over pages and pages, copying from one server to another...

Well, IMHO, this plugin should take care of this task (specially among different versions!), adjusting parameters if necessary to solve any possible incompatibilities and filling the new settings with default and harmless values. Something completely normal to consider while developing a valuable product...

Well, I expected much more from Emby Premiere...

The only way to do this would be install 4.7 restore backup and upgrade to 4.8.

Major change make methods incompatible.

Buffff, it is not an easy task.

For FreeBSD there are so many variables and incompatibilities involved that I do not have the time to do so: more than 150 packages are also installed when emby-server is installed, the FreeBSD major version of the jail also affects... I would have to start from scratch again...

I really prefer manually copying 50 pages from over server to another.

I did not expect this from a payment feature, really. I will not renew this.

Thanks

HI, apologies for the disruption. This was a one-time situation due to the need to revamp the backup plugin. I know that you've been with us for a long time. We value your feedback and hope that you'll stick around.

Right, one time, like the move from v3 to v4 that also had incompatible data from upgrading. I spent weeks migrating and had to rely on an external plugin to succeed.

There is no reason the backup functionality(or emby itself for that matter) could not convert the data for those special cases if it knows the version the backup was made in, a special function for those cases should be made. The software upgrade can already do it so I'm failing to understand why a backup import doesn't.

Emby itself should be able to recognize an old data format and convert it to the new one whether the plugin is used or not and if it can't, there should be an import function where you can specify the emby version the data is from and it would convert it to the current version.
