Subtitle naming & downloading

Hi,

I'm finding that my subtitle tracks that I have alongside my movie files are not being picked up. I have a naming convention that adds the subtitle language and type, and I'm curious if this is the problem.
Example:
Casino Royale (2006) [imdbid-tt0381061].en.hi.srt
Casino Royale (2006) [imdbid-tt0381061].mkv

Is the .en.hi the problem here? Is there anything I can do to have Emby just pick up all *.srt or such?

Second question, does the 'download subtitles' allow us to specify no burn-in subtitles? For example, the movie above comes with PGSSubs, but that requires a transcode burn-in to use them. I'd like Emby to detect that there are no 'text' style subtitles and download those. Is this possible? Is this perhaps a premiere feature?

Thanks!

I imagine two languages are being detected here, English and Hindi

Change it to: Casino Royale (2006) [imdbid-tt0381061].en.sdh.srt and see if that makes a difference. Subtitles

Not an option that I am aware of, but not a bad idea.

Hi, I don’t quite understand your second question. Can you please illustrate with an example? Thanks.

What are the conditions for automatic downloading when there are existing internal PGS subtitles?

The library settings about skipping the download control this.

Hmm, yeah I saw these during setup and was hoping that was exactly what they were for. However, it doesn't seem like it attempted to download any other subtitles, and the title in question above only has PGS subs. Would this be the job that controls the downloads?

Searches the internet for missing subtitles, if automatic subtitle downloading is enabled in Emby library setup.

This has run since the title has been in my library.

Thanks for the help!

I think this worked? I changed the name a bit, gotta test on some others. I see something called (SRT) at the bottom now.

However, is there any way to either ignore or re-rank the order of these subs? I have to scroll allllll the way to the bottom to get the text based sub.

I use Bazarr to get SRT subs and /or extract embedded subs.

then  I use Tdarr remove subtitled from my media.

SRT / text subs are more usable a cross clients.

No to my knowledge Emby currently listed internal then external subs.

I guess they should be grouped by language not Internal/External.   But Devs would have to comment on that.

How did you configure the options?

Looks like it hasn't detected a language at all now, it should list the language before sub type, eg:

Can you show us how the sub files are named now?

Yep this was a mistake on my part, it's named correctly now and showing up properly. However it is indeed way down the bottom still, I have to scroll through 31 options before getting to this one. Pretty rough when using a TV remote.

Looks like my settings are good. I tried this on another title by clicking 'search for subtitles' and it showed me I need Emby Premiere for the feature.

Have your questions been answered at this point or are you still having an issue?

Thanks for checking - I would say my issue is resolved.

The only bonus question that arose from discussion was if there was any way to improve the ordering of subtitles. When there are a ton of internal subs, I have to scroll all the way to the bottom for the text based external one.
