Problem searching for word(s) in filenames that contain dots

Along with my organized "Movie" library I also have a junk "Home videos" library for temporary videos and what not. I'm not sure when it changed but I noticed files I knew existed weren't showing up in the search but I could navigate to them manually and realized they all contained dots. I created the following three files to see what was happening:

this.file.has.dots.mp4

this file has spaces.mp4

this-file-has-dashes.mp4

If I search for "this" all three show up as expected.

If I search for "file has" only the 'space' and 'dash' ones show up.

If I search for "thisfile" only the one with dots shows up (I wouldn't expect any to show up).

Emby seems to be removing the dots/concatenating the filename with dots in so "this.file.has.dots" becomes "thisfilehasdots" meaning you can't search for a word in the middle of the filename. The title and sort title in the metadata editor still show the correct filename. Is this expected behavior, have I changed a setting or something? I'm running version 4.8.7.0 on a QNAP NAS.
