Server is Down

Fresh re-install and all was working beautifully until I enabled my 1080GTX resource.  After a while, the server magically comes up and then back down, despite the app showing that it's Running.  The workload shows no port forwarding eventually gets stuck again... Deploying.  I don't know what the F I'm doing wrong...

Plex seems to run just fine with the GPU enabled.

Unfortunately I had no choice but to delete the server and start fresh. I think I had to do this about 6 or 7 times until I finally figured out the proper procedure to avoid the permanent hang. And once it hung up, I had no way to access the server to get a log.

I finally had to let Scale choose the install folder locations and choose no (0) GPU. After a while, I could add the GPU for transcoding. But yesterday I created a RAMdisk and the GPU option seems gone for good. It's just not showing up in the container any longer. The RAMdisk was a big help but my friend still can't play my movies off my emby server. So I'm stuck with Plex necause he can somehow stream it perfectly. For this current issue, I started a new topic and posted server logs in it. Thanks for moving this and responding. I'm still studying and researching how I can better the experience for my friend before I invite my Plex family/friends.

Are you all good now with your GPU issue solved?

For the most part, yes. Thank you Luke. There is an issue with Roku TVs (TCL) I believe. My daughter is a local user and she can't play a few movies in my very limited experiments. But one I know is always a problem - Baby Driver in 4k. Remote or local via the TCL TVs is an issue with this one. My best friend alsi watches remote and he cant play it on his TCL either. Not sure why both play fine on Plex though. I'm trying to get these users off of Plex for privacy reasons. Plus, emby normally sends out a higher bitrate which obviously looks better to them. I am not letting up man. By the way, is there anything from my logs that show my NAS speeds? The only test that I can't seem to do is an internet test from my TrueNAS machine. HDD RAID speeds and LAN speeds all seem fine. But it makes me wonder if it's sending out at speeds I'm paying for (fiber 1G/1G). Thanks for all of your input. I know you're always busy.

Hi, so perhaps they need to lower the quality setting if the bitrate is too high?

Hi Luke. We have figured out the cause of the problem. Not that it is emby's fault but TCL TVs and emby don't play well together. Lowering bitrate doesn't help for some reason. It just won't play certain titles and most of the other 4k movies will have some stutter and/or buffering.

The good news is that I gave my daughter my 3rd Gen FireTV Cube and she can play any/everything now. My wifi is pretty solid, even though all of my equipment is hard-wired except my tablet and phone. So the only way I could experiment with emby/wifi was on her TV.

Oh, I do have one last question. I am receiving this message when I try to play something off of my father's server. Screenshot was taken off my Nvidia ShieldTV Pro. I have a lifetime sub already. Thank you!

Hi.  Your Emby Premiere subscription is tied to your server.  Any other server you connect to will need to have its own Premiere.

Ok, got ya.  The way the app/popup is worded, it looks like it wants me to pay (note the screen grab above).  So it was very confusing.

Not knowing the situation but you could do this.
