Ahole 17 Posted July 30, 2024 Posted July 30, 2024 Has anyone found any significant advantage of installing the Emby server on an SSD (M2 NVME) installed as a storage volume instead of a cache drive? I have read and listened to several people who suggested putting docker installs on the SSD , and virtual machines on an SSD for improved performance. The theory for Emby is that the files are so larger there is as much opportunity for increeased performance with using ssd just for cache.
Luke 42077 Posted July 31, 2024 Posted July 31, 2024 Hi, I haven't heard of running an SSD this way on Synology, but I do know that the cache drives will improve the performance of the entire system.
Ahole 17 Posted July 31, 2024 Author Posted July 31, 2024 I saw / heard several places -- the first was someone wanting to increase performance with virtual machines. And you know I have been experimenting with Windows Emby server vs NAS Emby server See here :
Happy2Play 9780 Posted July 31, 2024 Posted July 31, 2024 Lots of discussion here but think more toward cache then usage. Don't have Synology but have Emby installed on a NVME and it is faster that my SSD or HDD installs.
