ISO Support (as a folder, not ISO playback)

I wouldn’t really call this perfect ISO support.

 This plugin makes it equivalent to as if you ripped it to a DVD folder structure, so that’s what we’re testing.

Yeah, I understand that. Not looking for perfect yet, I just figured I'd try this out. I understand ISO support isn't a huge development priority, so I really appreciate anything you do to expand it. If this is something that can be developed to the point of simply playing the main feature of a DVD from an ISO file then I'd find that much easier and more organized. With MKV files I typically have to spend more time testing the audio and subtitles to ensure I'm getting everything. Simply ripping the ISO is my preference, regardless of the file size.

From my understanding reading the previous posts, using an ISO should have an identical folder structure to that of a ripped DVD folder, right? So far it sounds like it works, as the plugin successfully identifies and plays a title from the ISO.

Correct. If you have any that fail, I think it would be helpful to know what happens when ripping the exact same dvd to a folder structure.

And even for the ones that succeed, comparing to what happens with the folder structure version will help you know what the baseline is of what to expect.

Okay, I'll take a look and see if I notice any difference in playback between folder structure vs ISO.

So far, it's still looking like the same results between the ISO and DVD folder. 

After about 20 minutes or so (give or take roughly 5 minutes) the playback fails, and reports "No compatible streams are currently available. Please try again later or contact your system administrator for details." This happens at the same exact spot, regardless of ISO or DVD folder. The timing just varies per movie. Attempting to resume from the point of failure just shows a loading screen until it times out with the same message.

Hi! I tested the plugin on my RPi5 via the web interface, and it doesn't work on any DVD or Blu-ray I have in ISO format.

I copied the plugin to the plugins folder, restarted the server, and updated the metadata, but I still get the error "No compatible streams are currently available" (I also tried installing it from the catalog, but the same thing happens).

Here are some logs from the tests I performed, hoping they'll provide some useful information

I sympathize with you. The navigational menu feature still remains quite handy, and convenient. It's too bad there's less support behind optical media these days, and that there are so few media center software that have built-in menu playback support (i.e. Kodi, SageTV).

Even still, I'd settle for minimal support in simply playing the main feature, just to avoid the hassle of converting and editing all of my DVD rips. Or recognition of available titles, and simply being able to choose which to play (or play all). While it might not live up to full menu support, it would at least be something allowing full playback (without requiring a local player).

i tried with latest beta 4.9.4.1 for AsusTor;

put "IsoMounter.zip" inside Emby>Plugins on the Server and tried to playback via Browser; but it would not function;

 

at the moment i have no EmbySubscription(Premiere); 

would it rather function with the dedicated app for playback?

or are there other steps needed to get it fnction?

Did you put the ZIP file or the contents of the ZIP in the Plugins folder?

Why didn't you just use the Plugins page of the admin interface to install the plugin?

HI, you don't need to do this anymore. The IsoMounter plugin is in the Emby plugin catalog so you can just get it from there.

I have used WMC for 24 years to play movies and record TV.

I have used Mymovies.dk for 20 years as a movie catalog and to play dvd.iso files with VirtualCloneDrive to mount iso files.

Now

win10 is discontinued

Mymovies has discontinued for WMC and is now only for Apple (iOS)

Then I tried Plex + Kodi and now Emby which I like best and have bought 1 month to try.

Emby works great with:

Recording TV from DK-EGP with DVDViewer controlled from phone and Samsung TV.

Bluray Folder Support and DVD Folder Support

I have more then 1000 dvd.iso

Maybe you can make a script that can mount with VirtualCloneDrive Like in WMC ???

WMC mount the iso and then the movies is finish you push the disk out and the iso unmount.

I think the only thing missing from EMBY (4.9.3.0 Premiere) is the ability to play ISO files. I only use ISO files for music videos such as live concerts. That's the only time I clone discs (DVD or BR). This way, in a single container, I can keep the menus, bonus features, adjust the sound, or even choose the track I want to listen to directly.

Now we have playback. The IsoMounter plugin is already a huge step forward in this regard.

However, the plugin has a few flaws. The main one is the lack of menus. On some ISOs, the video opens on the bonus section, and without a menu, it is impossible to play the main video. There is also no chaptering.

During playback, I saw that it was possible to select an audio track other than the default one, but the change does not work.

I don't know if it will be possible to further improve this plugin, but thank you very much for the work you have already done.

He's asking for full ISO playback including menu system.

@gouloucheI'm afraid support for this is going to be extremely limited these days but Kodi as a front end to Emby may get you there.

Thanks for a wonderful program.

Now can i play MKV, ISO, Video_TS, Bd_folder and BD iso on my Samsung TV, from the EMBY server on a Windows PC

I can stream musik MP3 and FLAC to my Denon AVR from my phone.

Record TV works fine

I have delete Plex.

The last thing i use KODI to is play SACD.ISO and SACD-DSD files

That will be grat if EMBY can that, and i can delete KODI, and use EMBY to all.
