Pitah 3 Posted July 29, 2024 Posted July 29, 2024 Hello dear people, I was able to install Emby on the DS420j without any problems. But on the DS423 it loads Emby from the library but does not install it. The download progress is shown but after that nothing happens. Is something else missing? What else is important to install Emby. Jellyfin needs e.g. FFmpeg6
Pitah 3 Posted July 29, 2024 Author Posted July 29, 2024 Hi, As I have already described above, the installation of Emby on my DS420j worked very well. It does not work on my DS423. I tried to install Emby via the package centre. Under ‘All Packages’ I scrolled down until I got to ‘External Packages’. There I clicked on Install Emby. How to install packages in the Synology. So no Docker or anything like that. Then there was a download progress bar. That was it. No installation took place. I tried several times and also after I had restarted the Synology.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted July 29, 2024 Posted July 29, 2024 What package are you using but a quick lookup in the other guys chart shows this as our link one does not have that model.
Pitah 3 Posted July 29, 2024 Author Posted July 29, 2024 I have installed Emby from Synology's own library on my DS420j. Version: 4.8.8.0-724080800 I thought it must be the same version for the Synology DS423. The library is managed by Synology. I have no other choice to install the version in the Synology library. It should be released by Synology for my DS423.
Pitah 3 Posted July 29, 2024 Author Posted July 29, 2024 Now I have tried to install ARMv8 manually. I get an error message that port 8096 is already reserved. Yes, I still have Jellyfin installed. It uses port 8096 and I have stopped Jellyfin. But that does nothing. I would probably have to uninstall Jellyfin so that I can install Emby. But I don't want to do that yet because I want to test Emby first. Emby is already running on my DS420j. So far I'm very happy with Emby.
Neminem 1518 Posted July 30, 2024 Posted July 30, 2024 You could change the port of jellyfin. And then install Emby.
Pitah 3 Posted July 30, 2024 Author Posted July 30, 2024 Yes. Thank you very much. Maybe I will do it.
