But This sessions has now been paused for over 30 minutes so I have no idea what is keeping it going besides it truely not being pauses per ffmpeg log and temp folder.

As mentioned thougt this is playback position conditional for me as below 4 minute it kills the session and with 10 minutes left it kills the session.

The only thing I can ascertain is that it is when it’s doing a direct stream. If the video and audio were both transcoding together, it doesn’t happen. It holds the stream forever. 
 

Can you verify that force transcoding is not working under EMBY diagnostic options? I tried turning that on because that would fix my issue until this is resolved, but that isn’t even working properly. It’s still direct playing the video.

No it does not appear to work correctly in my test.

Ok, thank you! My original idea was to just force transcoding until the issue was fixed, but since it’s not working in diagnostic options, I can’t even do that. I have no problem running a bunch of tests and sharing every single log file I have for the devs if they want it. I’m just kind of in limbo right now with no Internet, using my mobile phone.

This might be media specific. I tried a different title and it continues processing while paused, same as yours. Both are HEVC but have different subtitle formats. There's also a subtitle conversion pipeline I didn't have in the other test and subs are off for playback.

I’m running on a separate machine, not connected to the Internet with a fresh install of Emby with one video file in the library. I was just able to re-create the playback issue after EMBY drops the stream in Safari for iOS. Not only did the video glitch back a few seconds, which you can see when I post it, but it eventually completely freezes and won’t resume playing. I have to stop the video and resume playing and it resumes fine from that state. This is not just a me issue. There’s something not right.

 

I’d also like to add that force transcoding under diagnostic options is not working. At least not for me.

@Lukehas there been any progress on this or is a fix in the works? Thanks! I still can’t use the pause function.

Still working on this? This is still an issue and I have to instruct everyone to just stop playback and resume as opposed to pausing.
