FreeNAS plugin

And yes, just to follow up, I'm pretty sure the Emby for Kodi add-on will display a dynamic path such as you're asking. So it sounds like you're good to go then actually.

FYI you could get away with only the one path sub to freenas media and define your library's to point to the sub folders

The path the emby plugin will use depends on how you configure it

I have the latest emby server plugin for freenas.  My server now cannot seem to finish a library update.  It is continually hanging around 75%.  Restarting the plugin and jail leads to the same result.

I have attached my log to this message, as it's gigantic, and I am not sure where to start.

There are tons of errors, almost all of them seem to mention some variation of mono and ffmpeg.

Here is an example -

Do you have any of the older versions of Emby available as a PBI?

The series issue I'm having with 3.0.5986 is making watching TV shows impossible, I'm thinking if you have an older PBI I could upload it to my jail and perform a downgrade. Is that even possible?

Hi,

just updated to v 6030 of the pbi and again the updte failed necessitating delete and manual install and full re-scan of library.

Is there something I can do to diagnose the pbi upgrade woes I have? clicking "update" next to the plugin just never works for me...

cheers

Griz

You may have already done this but.... I used to have upgrade problems with emby... one day I clicked the delete button for the jail and after manually deleted the entire jail folders .... it took a while and lots of tries but once I did that I restarted freenas installed emby through plug-ins and started from scratch... i haven't had any issues upgrading emby through the plug-ins section... just my 2 cents

thanks Eddie and PhilWhite - the last update I did I ended up destroying the original emby jail, and this first update since that has gone wrong too. I ended up doing it the manual way as per that post you linked to ( keep the jail, delete emby and manually install it) - maybe i'll just go straight to that and skip trying to do the upgrade in future.

planning to install a new freenas box in the near future, which I as hoping just to move the old disks in to, guess i'll try building it from scratch.

I don't know if it matters but freenas 10 is coming out eventually with a whole new way to virtualize and I don't know how compatible old jails are going to be when upgrading to 10

I updated the version of mono bundled with the FreeNAS plugin to 4.4, but then realized I didn't include the patches for realtime filesystem monitoring.

Should I still use the patches you provided or should I use these instead?

https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=198727

I just uploaded an updated patch version for 4.4.2.11 to PR 206593. Working fine for me on my FreeBSD box. I haven't tried the patch in 198727 myself.

I can get something out in the next few days. I didn't even hear of this release in the release announcement thread we have for package maintainers.

I noticed on my emby dashboard a few updates had come out but I never see anything about them in the announcement page in the emby forum

http://emby.media/community/index.php?/forum/17-announcements/

so i dont even know if it's worth the upgrade... is there somewhere else I should go to find information about the latest update?

Yep, I seem to get some messages that say "A new version of Emby server..." within the dashboard but if you try to click on it, it does not open a page with descriptions.  The ones that usually do have details about (I'll call them "true") updates is where I see "Emby Server X.X.XXX released" and then you can click on that and see what changes/updates were done.

So those are now the only messages I actually look at.  Don't know if it's a bug or whatever that keeps throwing up the other server updates messages.

And of course, it should be noted that the plugin is not updated with every single update to the server version (which I kinda like BTW).  So I typically only update when I see that the plugin has been updated.  I have lots of respect for josh4trunks.  :)

Thank you Luke.. ill bookmark that website to keep up with the latest and greatest...

The release notes are always attached to github releases.

https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/releases

Sometimes the blog announcement is just a little delayed after that. thanks.

Interesting, thanks.

And how does that tie into what is seen in the server's dashboard messages?

Posted

The server queries github to find the releases so that's where the dashboard message is coming from.

No worries, I only noticed as I have been tracking the TV series issue.

Got it, and that makes sense as to why I see those (vs what I then see here as to what plugin version is avail), thanks again.
