can you mount them all again and post a screenshot of you Jails > Storage tab.

Or try the other solution I offered

Before removal and After removal:

SC9mmNt.png

I removed them all. That is the first failure below. Then I tried stopping the jail. That is the second. I then restarted the jail with no mounts. That is the third.

May 12 00:19:32 thing manage.py: [middleware.exceptions:37] [MiddlewareError: There was a problem creating the PBI]

May 12 00:21:59 thing manage.py: [middleware.exceptions:37] [MiddlewareError: Failed to update plugin]

Looks like the mounts weren't the underlying issue. Plugins cannot install/upgrade/delete when the jail is stopped.

Here's what I suggest now =/

The Emby plugin has been updating smoothly since the switch from MB3 naming.

When you direct loading of another PBI. How do I accomplish that? I found the upload PBI GUI in the Jail section but I'm uncertain where I can get a clean PBI to use. I see I can get a few from http://download.freenas.org/plugins/9/x64/ but is this the best place?

Also, will deleting the plugin like this but saving the jail preserve the Emby settings and user information?  I won't have time for another 3 weeks to do a config from scratch.

That link is where the official PBIs are. As long as you keep the jail, or backup and restore /var/db/emby-server you'll be fine

Your process worked. I've got the most recent PBI installed and I did not lose any settings.

Hopefully the next update will work smoothly for me.

Forgive me if it's been addressed, but where in this PBI would one go about uploading custom DLNA profiles?

I assume somewhere under /var/db/emby-server

just upgraded the PBI . . .

I haven't upgraded in over a year becasue it never seems to be a straightforward process. I know it should be, but it never really is for me.

Anyway, stoped the plugin, clicked update, waited for ages as usual. All peared fine, EMBY started when I slicked start. All good.

Went into the web interface and logged in and got "updating your database" message  with percentage - it ran thru this but I can't say if it got to 100% or not as I went and did other things. Wehn i got back i was logged in fine - went to server config page to see if the library had been scanned - it was on about 30% and stayed there for an hour - I refreshed the page and got "this page cannot be found.

Went into freenas gui - emby was stopped and would not restart.

rebooted the freenas box (had an uptime of 380 days before i rebooted)

emby still would not start.

deleted the plugin and installed the pbi manually.

when it came back i was on the previous version with the update button available again.

ran the update again andleft it to do its thing.

once done, went into web gui and confirmed all running fine.

went into MB for MC and ALL data is gone. All previous watched data, all show and film data. Everything gone.

:(

I personally would not have restarted the freenas, probably was useless. I would have debugged things other ways first.

I don't know anything about MB for MC. Does your data still show in the Emby webinterface?

Hi, yea let us know what it looks like in the web interface and also try running a library scan. Thanks.

yeah freenas restart was probably pointless, just done as a matter of "restart the lot" - shouldn't be necessary but often is.

no - the data is not there in the web interface. Its all gone no matter what client i use. i don't use emby to fetch the metadata, i use a third party tool called Media Center Master and the data is stil there, but i can't seem to get emby to read that (as it clearly used to).

as for other methods of trouble shooting - I delve into the inner workings/ssh/log files so infrequently that its just a real schlep to re-discover all that and generally it will end up at "reinstall the pbi" anyway, so i shortcut the process and went directly to the re-install.

Hi - library scan is running now - seems slow, but if its havinig to add all data i guess that's expected?. Been running since just after I posted the message - at 29% at the moment.

if you're reinstalling fresh then yes that's normal. Even if you're, it's temporarily normal anyway due to the one year gap of updates. There have been a number of database upgrades since then, and to be honest, we haven't put as much testing into coming from a year old server. But let us know how things look after the scan is completed. Thanks.

thanks Luke - will do (30.2% now)

interestingly, just runnin top on the Freenas box and the SMB daemon was at 15 to 20% constantly  (its only an HP NL40, so not a huge processor) - I shut down the Medai Center Master tool I mentioned and SMBD dropped to less than 1 %

Media Center Master wasn't doing any updates/transfers at the time, it was just idle.

I am very new to FreeNAS, and a complete noob to Emby, but I would like to try Emby, as it looks like it would make my Kodi home setup very easy (several Windows based NUC's, and now an Android powered Nvidia Shield).

So what I have so far,

1. FreeNAS (9.10) running on a 48TB home server, currently sharing media using CIFS (/Storage/Media/Movies and /Storage/Media/TV) . This has been up and running for several months, without any issues. I can access this in Windows by going to \\freenas\Movies (or \\freenas\TV).

2. Installed the Emby plugin (very easy, and straight forward, created both the plugin, and jail with storage). Was able to turn on the service using the FreeNAS webpage, and can access the Emby webpage (192.168.1.2:8096) without any issue.

3. In FreeNAS under Storage, I changed the Emby Jail Source to /mnt/Storage/Media (I believe this is correct), and the Destination to /media (Create directory and Mounted both checked).

4. Both my Storage (/Media/Movies and /Media/TV) and the Emby Jail, have user: nobody, group: shareusers with all the permissions checked (did this through the FreeNAS webpage, not via the Shell).

5. When I try to add my content in the Emby webpage, it doesn't seem to recognize my movies path (/mnt/Storage/Media/Movies) and gives me the following error:

"There was an error adding the media path. Please ensure the path is valid and the Emby Server process has access to that location."

6. I have tried various ways of adding my storage (/Storage/Media/Movies, or /Media/Movies, or \\freenas\Media\Movies, or \\freenas\Movies), all with the same error message.

So at this point, I'm not sure if it's the way I'm pointing to my storage, or a permissions issue between my Jail and FreeNAS storage.

your question was answered on the freenas forum. this is not a permission issue. jail mountpoints do not span datasets, and it looks like you created several datasets for your media, so you'll need several mountpoints.

or don't use several datasets, not sure why people choose that.

Hi All,

Since the last update I've been having some issues with TV Series.

Emby: 3.0.5986

AFTV: 1.2.24a

Emby seems to not be loading the series information for each show. Also I currently am only able to play episodes from shows with one season. Has anyone else experienced this?

I also think my library scan time has increased from an hour to three.

Regards,

Llygoden

I have been studying this thread for quite some time now and have finally decided to post and as for some help in getting my path substitution to work correctly.

My current setup is a FreeNAS box with Emby installed and storage mounted in the Emby_1 jail like so:

Source

/mnt/FreeNAS_Volume/Media

Destination

/media

The "receiver" device is a raspberry pi with LibreElec with the Emby Addon. I have performed the initial sync and all can be viewed but i am unable to play any media. The GUI asks to remove the file from the library.

Any suggestions on path substitutions would be appreciated.

Check the media info of the video in the web interface, that is the path that the Emby for Kodi add-on will attempt to use. If that path is not correct then you need to revise your path substitution. Once it's correct, if you're still having an issue, then I would create a topic in the kodi section of the forum.

After setting my path subs like attached my movies are playing once more.

When i go into movie info inside kodi the path is plugin://plugin.video.emby.movies/?dbid etc... is this normal?

Have i done it correctly? Even though its working its not showing the direct path to the movies etc its going to a plugin path?

I'm not the best person to answer questions that are specific to the Emby for Kodi add-on. Please try the test I mentioned in post #523.

Check the media info of the video in the web interface, that is the path that the Emby for Kodi add-on will attempt to use. If that path is not correct then you need to revise your path substitution.

Then, once you've ensured the paths are correct, if you're still having an issue, please open a topic in the Emby for Kodi section:
