Hi all,

Running emby newest version on raspi4. Just switched my netgear router out as it was dying for a Dream machine. trying to open a port so my remote users can get in, but for the life of me I can't find where on my UDM settings to do this. Any help would be awesome. Thanks!

In the Web GUI:

Settings Gear (Bottom on the left)

Security

Port Forwarding Tab (Third One at the top)

Create Entry

In the Mobile App:

Settings Gear (Lower Right Corner)

Security

Port Forwarding

Add New (Upper Right Corner)

I suggest setting up a Home Network, a Guest Network and an IoT Network.

Unfortunately didn’t work for me. I created the rule and my emby still can’t be accessed remotely.

As you have highlighted networking is not your strength - may I respecfully suggest that you follow the many guides to get basics setup correctly/safely (forget emby for the moment) - the videos from crosstalk solutions are pretty good.  Going from a netgear router to the unifi world is a big jump - so you need to know what you are doing - or you could potentially be opening up your LAN to the Internet .. 🫣   You also need to try and get the most from the equipment - just setting it up the same as a plain old ISP router means you will be missing out on all it's strengths - LAN isolation as @Sammysuggested is top of the list but again - this all needs 'upfront planning' - deciding you want to do this when you have all your network setup is not good ...

I was able to get the port forwarding and then created limited rules to only allow access to the IP’s of my remote users. Took some figuring out but for now it’s set up in a fairly secure way. Thanks for the tips.

Those remote ip’s may change if the remote ISP does not give out a fixed to each.  So that may be a game of wack a mole for you as they complain it stops working, and you have to change.

Yeah I just figured it’s the lesser of two evils vs keeping it open. I told all remote users this already and with the unifi app it’s an easy enough update. All users are labeled in my port forwarding rules so should be a quick copy and paste fix if ever needed.
