If it is metadata lookup/misidentification, I will see this always being a issue of being picked as something it is not.

But Luke would have to comment further here as all I can do is test and guess.  As it isn't even matching the Episode Title or it would have been linked to same name episode I would think.

But still don't know how I got it to work once.

Will test one more thing here with locked season to see what happens.  Nope that didn't work either as it still go S00E93 metadata.

Looks like I got it to work by adding Featurettes folder allowing nfo to be created and editing that nfo to Locked metadata, then adding the extra file to be added without being looked up/misidentified.

But have only tested with this specific episode.

Otherwise only other way is disable all providers on library, add the extras and allow to imported, lock their metadata, enable library providers and drive on.

Only other way around the issue I see would be assigned generic S00E1000+ naming scheme just like before these Extras changes/additions, otherwise you run the issue of misidentification chosen for you from provider metadata.  And once a provider season/episode number is assigned it will automatically link the item in the database making multi-versioning.

So extra work assigning to episode as proper extra to that episode or unique naming outside the realm of providerid information.

Now your issue is them being sequentially ordered per number scheme.  But does not have to reside in Season 0/Specials folder and can be maintained in Featurettes.

More logs attached.

Ok I made a generic "behind the scenes" folder for season 7, instead of doing one for each individual episode.  It says this is possible in the wiki.

It looks like it will work, in that it now plays the episode.  However, it still gets thrown into the pull down bar as another version of the episode.

Also, now it won't play the backdrop video. Saying "compatibility error"

At least it applied to the correct same named special, but I believe will come back to metadata provider incorrect identification.  As technically this additions cannot be provider searched.

Will test some more but suspect naming scheme will be an issue also.

Guess I will have to test your naming scheme now.  Might be from not have S00E84 also.

Yep that was it as all specials/extras no matter their location fall under lookup of Season 0/Specials and get merged per their metadata misidentification but technically the episode already exists by name.

Changing naming scheme in season you the existing special with positioning data and the behind the scenes as I broke the identification issue.

Since these are extras for existing files lookup becomes the issue.

Not sure on the theme backdrop issue though.

Shouldn't emby be able to just block a file In a "behind the scenes" folder, featurettes folder, etc or labeled one of those, from being assigned as a version of the episode?  As that's not where one would put a file like that?

Luke will have to comment as that is what looks like is happening.  If special already exist all these additions get grouped into existing special.

The complexity here will only get worse as you are adding extras items that technically already exist and so should be with their parent episode.  But that is just my take on it.

So no existing item can add really anything but if existing item is present you will get multi-versioning no matter location as they are all classified Season 0/Special.

Yea, but even if it's being group with an existing episode because of naming, it being in one of the "extra" titled folders should (if it were working properly) should supersede it being read as another version of that episode.

But that is the thing it is in an ALIAS folder for Season 0/Special.

In theory your behind the scenes should be like this so it appear with said episode.

Yea, i agree. I'm just saying "behind the scenes" shouldn't be an alias for a specials folder because they're different animals.  There should be folders that you can put files into that Won't be connected to direct episodes.  Maybe I want to have every blooper of the office in one place, without having to look through every season.  And then separately  I can directly connect other extras, if I want them to show up directly with an episode.

This would give people the freedom to organize their extras as it suits them.  I'm especially wary of renaming every one of my extras to tvdb special numbers as those have changed an astronomical amount of times over the years, and probably will continue to change for years more.

I think the way I have my files labeled is certainly organized.  You know? it's not a random folder of mislabeled videos.

Personally if it is behindthescenes or deletedscene they really need to be named the same as the episode they are for.  If they are not for a specific episode that is a different story.

Personally I will blame Mixed content as they will always prevent you from doing this.

4.7 and previous was a little different as there wasn't folder aliasing so it never got season linked.

I don't think it's a mixed content library.  it should just be television.

Right but all the rules will come from Mixed Content requirements as Emby has to guess what a folder and structure it is to be Movie or Series, so this content type will created more restrictions for a specific content type library.
