Bigmack3000 107 Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 Logs attached. I've posted in the past about this, but the new way of displaying tv extras is causing a lot of problems. One it doesn't display them correctly, having random featurettes overrule actual specials as the preferred option: That extra isn't even displayed under the correct episode. But, now I think it's causing playback issues. Episodes without any extras attached were playing fine. Then I got to a special that had an extra attach itself to it, and I kept getting this message: I randomly played around, by checking off that I had already watched the special, to see if it would move on to the next episode. Then manually went back to the previous episode, and was finally able to play it. (The logs should show that). But then the following episode also has an extra attached to it, and is now giving the same message. embyserver (2).txt

I see from the log that you have these featurettes media files The TV Naming article indicates that it should be possible to have these extras folders at the season level. Could you try putting these under the relevant Doctor Who (2005) season folders ? For the specials these were referenced in the log 4 hours ago, Bigmack3000 said: Episodes without any extras attached were playing fine. As for this, I'm really not a fan of how Emby has gone about implementing tv extras in general. throwing them into the same pull-down tab as the episode is ugly and non-intuitive. It either hides extras away, or makes them an obstacle to get around. If emby wants to go down that road, then they should have a 2nd pull down on the episode's page where the extras are displayed. But I'd rather not split all my extras apart right now, as I am severly hoping Emby adjusts this, or makes putting them season folders optional. There are extras that don't belong to a single season in particular. Where do they go?
Neminem 1518 Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 You do know you can split them apart, right ? You can even decide where it is shown with in you season.
Bigmack3000 107 Posted July 25, 2024 Author Posted July 25, 2024 I want the option for non-special extras to not show up in a season. Not crowd up the pull-down with the actual episode in it.

It does it when the filename can match up with an episode title. Emby tries to throw it in with that episode.

But S00E93 is identified for me where yours is not per the way it is displayed but could be something via mutli-versioning. Edited July 25, 2024 by Happy2Play
Happy2Play 9780 Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 But being behind the scenes for a specific episode I would do the extra work and put it there. But still do not know how you are getting mutli-versioning.

I wonder if it got matched based on episode title.

Have not been able to group/version The Last Day and The Last Days of the Pond.
Bigmack3000 107 Posted July 25, 2024 Author Posted July 25, 2024 Man, that's weird. I don't know what else i can post besides other screenshots of it happening? I've posted about it in the past. It happens all over my tv shows.
Bigmack3000 107 Posted July 25, 2024 Author Posted July 25, 2024 (edited) But I'm also wondering if part of the "no playback option" here is because emby recently added auto skipping for non essential specials. (Another thing I'd prefer to optional instead of forced). And maybe that combined with the multi versioning is causing the issue? Because this show in particular has a lot of "non essential" specials. Edited July 25, 2024 by Bigmack3000

Yes I just reproduce with complete naming. Without title on filename is not a issue. Little confused on the matching though as it did not match to same name. 1
Bigmack3000 107 Posted July 25, 2024 Author Posted July 25, 2024 Yea, and the problem is it's an extra for that exact episode. So it can't really be named anything else
Happy2Play 9780 Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 But in the end it looks like an identification issue once it gets misidentified with metadata from provider that technically does not exist and linking happens per metadata not file naming.

So in reality they needed to be within episode folder or named same as their episode - featurette anything.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 (edited) Not sure how it worked the very first test though. Edited July 25, 2024 by Happy2Play

I think I'd rather just keep them in a folder labeled featurettes.

Two way to do this and both methods add the the extra to the episode. alone side media or added structure per item ie episode folder 4 minutes ago, Bigmack3000 said: Is it possible to fix this? Once there is metadata I don't thinks and all metadata has to be deleted and probably have to remove the entire series from library and scan to clear the database.
Bigmack3000 107 Posted July 25, 2024 Author Posted July 25, 2024 Yea, going through thousands of files to rename or move them is what i was really hoping to avoid. That's why i wish emby would give more options when they add something new isntead of forcing everyone down the same path. There were no issues for me when emby simply read a featurettes folder and left it at that. Is there at least a way to fix it so future extras don't cause this problem?
