iPhone remote control for Samsung breaks seeking

Hi folks

I’ve had this issue for ages I just haven’t tried to fix it before.

Symptom: whenever you’re remotely controlling playback of media on Samsung TV app, from iPhone app, the seek forward/back buttons do nothing.

 To recreate:

Open emby native app (not fire stick etc) on Samsung smart tv

Play media (for example a tv show episode stored on emby server, not live TV)

While media is playing, open emby app on iPhone. Choose the “cast” button top right and select your session on the tv.

The app will connect, show the backdrop, title, play state etc correctly and show you remote controls

You’ll find that these controls work: play/pause, drag bar to seek, skip episode, and probably others

However, if you press the button to seek 10s forward or 5s back they do not work. The UX pops up the “+10” ghost text on the right, it evidently registers the command, but nothing happens. You can press it many times, nothing happens.

The seek bar does seem to work although it’s a bit finicky.

I’m running:

emby server 4.8.8.0 on Ubuntu VM (no containers etc)

iPhone app: 2.2.23

Samsung TV emby app: 2.GR02.0709 on firmware T-KTSUDEUC-1341.2

Any idea how I can fix this?
