Bigmack3000 107 Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 Is there a way to have emby store all the artist images it collects in the artist folders?
Happy2Play 9781 Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 (edited) Well this becomes a grey area as not all album/tracks only have one artist. But assuming you have Artist/Album/track structure and library structure setting set to the same the artist image should be saved there. Otherwise all artists will be in /metadata/musicartists folder. Could be a timing issue if arts was added via another album already creating then in /metadata/musicartists also. Bigmack3000 107 Posted July 25, 2024 Author Posted July 25, 2024 Yea, that's the setting I have selected for my music. I know multi-artist albums are unreliable, but even the single artist albums seem to be 50/50 if the artist image will download into the folder. It will show up in emby, but no guarantee I can see in my files. Wasn't sure if I didn't have a certain option selected.
Happy2Play 9781 Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 (edited) Minus specific examples it is hard to say 2024-07-24 17:47:16.420 Debug ProviderManager: Saving image to E:\Media\Music - emby metadata\ABBA\folder.jpg Edited July 25, 2024 by Happy2Play
Bigmack3000 107 Posted July 25, 2024 Author Posted July 25, 2024 Is there any info in particular that would help? Here's an example of one that shows up in emby: But is not in the artists folder:
Happy2Play 9781 Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 If it is writing nfo file in folder I don't really see why it would not write image also. But without the log from when it happened it is probably impossible to say.
Bigmack3000 107 Posted July 25, 2024 Author Posted July 25, 2024 Yea, because they show up in emby, I don't always check if it's in the folder too, so those specific logs are probably to old. I'm doing a scan of that library now, and I'll post them incase it shows anything.
Happy2Play 9781 Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 (edited) Only two reason I can think of would be access permissions and library save with media option. Or as mentioned a previous track added them but should not be the case in your example. Edited July 25, 2024 by Happy2Play
Bigmack3000 107 Posted July 25, 2024 Author Posted July 25, 2024 but what would allow the permissions to all some images just not all?

See it in dozens of Synology topics where specific folder have different permissions then parent folder. I guess you can ensure you have debug logging enabled and change image (even selecting the same image) on that Artist and see what the log shows.
Bigmack3000 107 Posted July 25, 2024 Author Posted July 25, 2024 Logs attached. Interesting, when I select "edit images" and chose that same image again. It then actually downloaded it into the folder. embyserver (1).txt

There's no way to know what happened in the past because we don't know what conditions might have been different at the time. 1 1
Bigmack3000 107 Posted July 25, 2024 Author Posted July 25, 2024 Understood. If I "Search for missing metadata" will that download the images for any artist only displaying on emby?

If I "Search for missing metadata" will that download the images for any artist only displaying on emby? Don't quite follow the question. But Search for missing will do exactly that if it does not currently exist in Emby ie empty metadata field or missing image it will try to get. Now if you select w/replace images it will delete the existing and try to get replacement.
Bigmack3000 107 Posted July 25, 2024 Author Posted July 25, 2024 if i select "replace images", that will only replace images that emby had downloaded correct? nothing embedded in the files? Also, I remember when discogs was first added, there were problems with large libraries hitting a limit, and no further images downloading. Has that been fixed?

It will redo everything as if it were a new scan, following all of your library options. There is no distinction based on where the image originally came from. 1
