I am having some trouble with TVDB data. IMDB and TMDB are OK. The specific show is "Who's Line is it Anyway": https://thetvdb.com/series/whose-line-is-it-anyway

TVDB merges the Drew Carey (ABC) and Aisha Tyler (CW) versions where other providers including IMDB keep them separate. It appears the Emby guide data provider uses the separate versions.

As a result, when Emby fetches data about the recorded episodes, it's off by 8 seasons.

TVDB acknowledges there is a "CW Revival" of the series, but by keeping them all together, it's giving me headaches.

I have tried adding the year to the folder name (2013) as well as adding the IMDB id to the folder name [tt2919910], but neither resulted in a different outcome.

Any advice on how to handle or workaround this?

HI, your best bet might be to use the metadata editor to lock the series so that you won't have tvdb data interfering with the data that comes from the guide.

Unfortunately, there is not real work around for this as shows do not have options show level to limit provider metadata.  And adding IMDBid will only search TVDB/TMDB by that external providerid.

So in cases like this all you can do is posible reorder Library provider order or maybe remove TVDB id from Show and Lock metadata which creates its own issues on continuing shows.

I'm assuming this will only help with recordings going forward and not already recorded?

Correct you may need to manually fix metadata on existing recordings. If you're seeing this happening frequently you might consider disabling internet metadata fetchers on the recordings library altogether.
