chowbok 132 Posted July 24, 2024 Posted July 24, 2024 None of my music video artists are being identified, even when I attempt to manually identify them. Is the problem that they're using the "title" routines rather than for "people"? If so, can this be changed?
Luke 42079 Posted July 24, 2024 Posted July 24, 2024 Hi, music artists and people are two different things in the system, if that’s what you’re asking.
Happy2Play 9781 Posted July 24, 2024 Posted July 24, 2024 Would need specific examples but yes Artist and People are two separate categories.
chowbok 132 Posted July 25, 2024 Author Posted July 25, 2024 Maybe that should be changed? Just a thought. Anyhow... when I click "Identify" on an artist and put in the name, there's never any match. What's it trying to do?

Need specific examples on search issue but will be dependent on library enabled providers.
chowbok 132 Posted July 25, 2024 Author Posted July 25, 2024 (edited) Okay, so for my music video library I have "TheAudioDB" checked under "Artist Metadata Downloaders". When I go to "Artists" in the library, select, say, "The Beatles" and go to "Identify" in the dropdown, a popup appears that gives me the option for "Title" and "Year". If I type in "Beatles" in "Title" and click "Search", it can't find anything. Same for every artist I've tried. (I'm running 4.8.8.) Edited July 25, 2024 by chowbok

Only think I don't get is a image with the query but get a image upon selecting item. Edited July 25, 2024 by Happy2Play
chowbok 132 Posted July 25, 2024 Author Posted July 25, 2024 Hmm, not sure what's going on then. It's like it's not even checking. It returns "no match" right away, and I don't see anything in the logs indicating the request is going on, even when I turn on debug logs.
chowbok 132 Posted July 25, 2024 Author Posted July 25, 2024 I'm not using Emby for music, just for music videos, but just to see what would happen I created a music library and added my Beatles audio folder to it. It loads all the albums fine, but it still can't identify the artist.
chowbok 132 Posted July 25, 2024 Author Posted July 25, 2024 (edited) Getting a bunch of stuff like this in the logs now: 2024-07-24 21:01:42.132 Debug App: Running AudioDbAlbumProvider for Rubber Soul 2024-07-24 21:01:42.132 Debug App: AudioDbAlbumProvider returned no metadata for Rubber Soul Nothing more informative than that, I'm afraid. Happy2Play 9781 Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 (edited) May need to see library config but I just posted in the testing area as to me it looks like the Music Video config may be broken as it appears to be mixing music and music video unless that was a major change. Edited July 25, 2024 by Happy2Play
chowbok 132 Posted July 25, 2024 Author Posted July 25, 2024 Looks like it's a general lookup issue for me rather than a Music Video issue specifically. Not sure how to induce better debugging.

Solution Luke 42079 Posted July 25, 2024 Solution Posted July 25, 2024 I would suggest enabling musicbrainz to get more matches.

Still confused here as Music Videos do not have artists they have People/Cast. The video can be attached to an Artist though. So to my topic on setting I don't see how all the options apply to Music Videos? As the 4.7 config would appear to be correct not 4.8+ as artist/album do not apply.

If you use the metadata editor to fill out the artist for it, then the music video will also show up on the artist detail screen.

Right but people attached to the MV are not Artist they are People/Cast. IE The Beatles cannot be added to the video as a person. Or I should say they can be added but will never get a image as People provider are not the same as Artist provider. Edited July 25, 2024 by Happy2Play
Luke 42079 Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 Well they do support people in the same way as any other video. I suppose you can argue one way or another whether that should be taken away or not.
