raylapse 1 Posted July 23, 2024 Posted July 23, 2024 Case: I use android TV client and set to use the external player. When I close the external player in the middle of the playing, there is always a dialog asking me Yes/No to set the movie watched or not. This is really annoying. I tried to create a system job to eliminate this dialog by calling the PlayStateApi /Users/{UserId}/Items/{ItemId}/UserData In the userData I set Played=true, PlayPercentage = 100, and the max value of runtimeTicks into PlaybackPositionTicks. All of them does not help. Can you please suggest how could I eliminate this dialog?
ebr 16169 Posted July 23, 2024 Posted July 23, 2024 Hi. There is currently no way to turn that off. Why are you using an external player?
raylapse 1 Posted July 23, 2024 Author Posted July 23, 2024 because of dovi, because of iso file, because of bdmv folder If emby can bring the direct play back, that would be really wonderful!
Luke 42077 Posted July 23, 2024 Posted July 23, 2024 Hi. Can you try searching for our standard android app (Just "Emby" on Amazon and "Emby for Android on Google) on the same device's app store and see how that compares? Thanks.

As a follow-up, is this something we can disable now? If so, how? If not, why not? I’m coming from Plex and this (along with other “little” things around the Interface Design) is driving me absolutely nuts on my Android TV. I’m using the Android app, and every time I press “back” on my TV remote this stupid popup comes up, which is especially annoying when I’ve clicked on a file accidentally or if I press “back” while trying to hide the file scrubbing overlay. If I press “No”, it ends up not marking the file as played, thankfully, but I shouldn’t need to be asked every time I partially play a file … never mind that pressing “No” doesn’t preserve where I was in the show/movie file at all, either, which makes it even more infuriating. I’m trying to understand how to set this up so it just plays and stops a file without additional steps/input, and then be able to continue from where I was. This especially feels unnecessarily obtuse compared to Plex and I’d love to be able to just turn this nonsense off. (Edit: For clarity, I’m using VLC because for whatever reason the built-in player didn’t work at all on my Sony TV; using the built-in player, then, isn’t even an option for me.) fraisecafe 0 Posted July 5, 2025 Posted July 5, 2025 As a second follow-up, this also happens when switching apps, for example if someone accidentally hits the Netflix button on the TV remote or if you want to quickly check something on YouTube … I’ve had to find my spot in Lord of the Rings while watching with my kids three times in the past hour because of the way the interface works, something I never had with Plex. I’d love to know how to permanently disable this dialog box and how to mark where the file was watched until so that I don’t keep hitting this issue every single time we watch something. Please. Thank you.
