Sammy 790 Posted July 22, 2024 Posted July 22, 2024 (edited) IntroSkip Chapter Insertion Failed on <Server Name> Running time: 32 seconds 7/22/2024, 2:00:45 AM IntroSkip Chapter Insertion Failed on <Server Name>I Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at Emby.Server.Implementations.ScheduledTasks.TaskManager.Execute(IScheduledTaskWorker task, TaskOptions options) at IntroSkip.Chapters.ChapterEditScheduledTask.ProcessChapterImageExtraction() at IntroSkip.Chapters.ChapterEditScheduledTask.Execute(CancellationToken cancellationToken, IProgress`1 progress) at Emby.Server.Implementations.ScheduledTasks.ScheduledTaskWorker.ExecuteInternal(TaskOptions options) Going to the Plugin causes Emby Server to lockup necessitating shutting it down in the taskbar and restarting from the start menu. I've received a few of these cryptic messages lately, I believe since installing beta 4.9.0.26. What's up? How fix? I don't see anything in the Emby Server Log covering the time period above but have posted the log from when it locked up. embyserver-63857223739.txt Edited July 22, 2024 by Sammy
Luke 42077 Posted July 22, 2024 Posted July 22, 2024 HI, I would suggest reporting this in the thread for the plugin to ensure that the developer will see it. Thanks.
Sammy 790 Posted July 22, 2024 Author Posted July 22, 2024 @CheesegeezerI cannot find the master thread but I believe you wrote this plugin. Can you take a look?
datanet 131 Posted July 23, 2024 Posted July 23, 2024 I'm having the same issue on 4.9.0.27. Rolled back to 4.9.0.26 and working again. Since development and support for the plug-in pretty much went away once Luke baked-in a subset of the introskip feature set to the core code, I'm doubting there will be a fix for this issue. I've been holding out removing the plug-in and reverting to the now built-in introskip feature since it has been working so well for me...err, until now. @Cheesegeezerwas there ever anything posted for the best process for transitioning from your plug-in to what Luke baked in a while back? 1
rbjtech 5284 Posted July 24, 2024 Posted July 24, 2024 It was @chefthat wrote the Introskip Plugin but @Cheesegeezerdid indeed write the Chapter insertion code and it's that part which integrates the Intro data as hidden markers which the Emby Clients then use. It was always a bit of a hack as the Plugin has it's own Intro database. As @datanethas said above, support for the Plugin has been withdrawn for a while now (maybe 2 years ago..) and nobody is likely to fix this given how the project ended.. I myself (reluctantly) moved over to the Core Introskip about 6 months ago - as inevitably I knew the code was going to break someday. Once the plugin is removed, you'll need to re discover all the Intro's again I'm afraid. The Plugin Intro markers will remain if you don't turn on the new core feature, BUT if turned on, the Core will not have it's own fingerprint data so it will assume it has no Intro data and attempt to find it, overwriting the previous Plugin entry. There will be other functionality 'missing' vs the Plugin (no editing, no Credit detection etc to name a few) - but from a functionality perspective, the core version works 'ok' - but unfortunaly it follows the 'emby way' of a minimal viable product only ... 1 3

Emby is trying to be a lot of things for a lot of people so it needs to keep things as simple as possible. @LukeAny chance of improving intro skip to include credit skip and database editing? Either that or maybe check the code in 4.9.0.26 and beyond to see if there's a simple fix to this? 1 hour ago, rbjtech said: As @datanethas said above, support for the Plugin has been withdrawn for a while now (maybe 2 years ago..) and nobody is likely to fix this given how the project ended.. I remember there being some scuttlebutt but do not remember what happened as I was up to my eyeballs in a major home remodel then building a pool and didn't have the time to do much with Emby but keep it running through it all being my own general contractor and all.. It seems @chefand @Cheesegeezerhave left the building but it would be nice to see if either would take a gander for old times sake!
Sammy 790 Posted July 25, 2024 Author Posted July 25, 2024 I'll probably just roll to the built in method pretty soon as this doesn't look like it'll be fixed anytime soon. 2
