Snappawapa 2 Posted July 22, 2024 Posted July 22, 2024 Hey guys, I am trying to load in Star Trek the Original Series, and by file look like the following: <tv directory>/ Star Trek (1969)/ S01/ Star Trek S01E01 - Original.m4v Star Trek S01E01 - Remastered.m4v .... As far as I can tell, this is correct as per Emby documentation. I have two files for each of the episodes, one being the original and one the remastered. However, Emby fails to actually pull metadata for the entire series. Mo images or flavortext are shown, and none of the episodes are named appropriately. However, Emby seems to know each episode should be selected between Original and remastered. Does anyone know why this particular show has issues? The other series I have seem to pull fine. I have also tried putting the tvdbid in the series folder name, as well as tried setting the id's manually in the ui, with no results. I actually for a short time had metadata pulling after setting thetvdbid manually, but then it stopped pulling in data for more episodes as I got them copied in, so I tried resetting and now it won't pull in anything at all.

Happy2Play 9780 Posted July 22, 2024 Posted July 22, 2024 (edited) Without server log for the series import it is hard to say but first guess would be the year but since you mention you added providerid to name we would still need to see server log and specific naming scheme. But see no issues with identify by name as 1966 version appears. or by tvdbid=77526 Edited July 22, 2024 by Happy2Play
Snappawapa 2 Posted July 22, 2024 Author Posted July 22, 2024 (edited) Interesting. It looks like there are a bunch of network timeout errors: InnerException: System.Net.Http.HttpRequestException: Network is unreachable (assets.fanart.tv:443) MediaBrowser.Model.Net.HttpException: MediaBrowser.Model.Net.HttpException: Network is unreachable (api4.thetvdb.com:443) I'm running this server via the TrueNas Scale App, and testing those connections from my desktop looks fine... Also confirming this seems to be not just Star Trek, but for any new metadata Edited July 22, 2024 by Snappawapa

Can you look into those and let us know what you find? 1
Happy2Play 9780 Posted July 22, 2024 Posted July 22, 2024 Possibly ipv6, DNS, VPN, security software. But may need to see complete server log but something is probably blocking all external communications for Emby. 1
Snappawapa 2 Posted July 22, 2024 Author Posted July 22, 2024 @Happy2Playagreed, looks like the case since I just tried to connect to Google from the app's shell, which failed. Notably, it got an IP address so DNS seems to be working. Aaaannndddd fixed it. I had tweaked my server's network settings and ended up leaving "Route v4 Interface" and "Route v4 Gateway" blank in Apps -> Settings -> Advanced Settings. After setting these to the appropriate values, works like a charm. Thanks for rubber ducking with me guys! 1
1jfeldman 1 Posted December 1, 2025 Posted December 1, 2025 I realize this is more than a year later, but I had this problem as well and it was resolved simply by naming the files “Star Trek TOS” instead of just “Star Trek”, which seemed to lead emby to think that it was Star Trek Discovery. Using 1966 instead did not work. All episodes also had to be renamed, not just the top folder, so “Star Trek TOS - s01e01” and so on. I hope this helps someone else. Cheers. 1
