speechles 2055 Posted July 20, 2024 Posted July 20, 2024 (edited) With Roku OS13 came the ability for an app to detect a previous crash. We now are able to have this dialog appear when you restart the app after it has had a hard crash back to the Roku homescreen. This will allow you to send logs for that exact event which crashed. Without having to enable debug or do anything special except click the send log button. These crash logs are fully anonymous since there is no user logged in. The log contains a trackback of the exact spot in the code that crashed. Edited July 20, 2024 by speechles

It must have had a brightscript crash and for some reason remained in the app. Usually those crash the app back to the Roku homescreen. Then when you pressed home it forced the app to exit even though it had already crashed. The dialog will only spawn if the Roku has stored an exit code that indicates a previous brightscript crash on the last launch of the app. Since you sent the log though we will see what your Roku reported. Allows users to send logs immediately for any crashes which speeds up the time we are finding out about the crash allowing us to fix them more promptly. Edited July 20, 2024 by speechles

I wonder if pressing HOME is considered a crash by the Roku because we aren't getting any further error information in the log you sent. We may need to filter that out somehow from the detection.

chrisrobbins1970 82 Posted July 22, 2024 Author Posted July 22, 2024 (edited) when I get the report..if I'm in Emby..I'll press the SEND LOG and it will put me back into EMBY then I'll press the HOME button on the Roku remote to exit. This time I only OPENED emby and got the report. pressed send log and it put me into emby. There seems to be no pattern..just random error reports. Edited July 22, 2024 by chrisrobbins1970

chrisrobbins1970 82 Posted July 25, 2024 Author Posted July 25, 2024 just to let you know... the emby app has crashed 2 times and have sent the logs. i have removed the app and re-isntalled the app. first time.. I just turned on the TV and clicked on the emby app..crash log sent, then it went into emby.. second time again clicked on emby, crash report sent log..went into amby... what is going on here ?? 1
