Setup as a simple DLNA server with remote upload to library?

I have an X96Q AndroidTV box, got Emby server installed and it works.

I am wanting to set it up as a simple DLNA server. It doesn't need any contact with the internet outside my LAN. All it needs to do is just make video files available to some Smart TVs via DLNA. Nothing else. Just serve files via DLNA because the TVs have everything they need to play the videos. Once setup there will be no monitor, mouse, or keyboard connected to the AndroidTV box. Just an external USB hard drive and/or a large Micro SD card.

Also, I need to be able to upload videos to the server and delete them from a Windows PC on the LAN. If this part can't be done then there's no point to it because it would essentially be the same as putting videos on a USB drive and plugging that into the TV.

I had Open Media Vault on a 2011 Mac Mini that suddenly decided to no longer boot. So I figured I'd see if I could make this AndroidTV box work.

Hi, Emby Server doesn't have an upload function, but there are many ways you could upload files to folders from outside of Emby. Then Emby will pick up the new content via the normal library scan.

What would I need to install to provide LAN access to the drive attached to the Android TV box?

Couldn't you share a folder on the network and copy files into it from the windows pc?

It looks like you are using some sketchy / illegal streaming service.
Emby does not supply media files.

That would require another computer to be constantly running, and I could just install a DLNA server on *that* system.

If your server is on this android box, couldn't you share a folder from this box over the network?

Emby server doesn't do that, unless it supports SMB 2.0 or later with full access permissions.

What I'm saying is you could use the operating system on the android box to share a folder over the network.

Got any info on how to do that? AFAIK Android and AndroidTV don't have that capability built in.

If you can installĀ Cx File Explorer onto the android box, then it can do that sort of thing.
