ESeyer 0 Posted July 18, 2024 Posted July 18, 2024 Hi, i moved today from Jellyfin to Emby and i have a Premiere subscription. Emby a home is performing well (on a UNRAID Server). Additionally i want to use movies and shows on a beamer. The Beamer is most time offline because it is in the campervan in foreign countries. That video-files are on a micro-sd card in the android beamer. (((or if needed in a SD card in the router))) Now i understood i have two possibilities: -Foldersync: I understood it syncs whole folders an i can't decide i want only 20 episodes from a show... -Download functionality: I can decide at my computer which episodes, ... i want, an select i want to have them e.g. on the beamer... That need that i power on the beamer for the download insted of removing the SD card from the beamer only. Question: Do i have also to start emby on the beamer for that reason, or is something running in the backgroud which performs the download, ond how do i see when its finished... PS: I have to pick up the beamer from the car so i dont have exerience and i have not be able to do tests up to now... Or do you have other ideas for my problem ? Best

Misinthe 46 Posted July 18, 2024 Posted July 18, 2024 So a couple of things: If you can't bring the beamer online maybe at your house to load them there, then I don't think the SD card through Emby will work, you can't use Emby to download them at home and load them at the beamer. If you can bring the beamer into your house and connect it into the network, you can download the Emby app on it (since it is Android) and use the Download locally. To watch the "Downloaded" media on the app, click on the hamburger menu on the top left, and you should see the "Downloads" folder. To view the downloading process (see how long and all that), you have to click on your user (top right), then App Settings, then go to Downloads and then Manage Downloads. My personal recomendations for an offline environment like that are. If you can bring the device online, download them into it. (this is the best and only way to use with Emby) If you can't, just get the media from your server into an SD or external drive and download the VLC app on the Android Beamer and watch them like that. (this does not synchronize with your Emby server)
ESeyer 0 Posted July 19, 2024 Author Posted July 19, 2024 Thank you very much for your feedback. @Home the beamer can be online*, but i dont like to have powerd it on very long and producing light... Only when the sync is really fast that would be OK. (Wifi works when the camper car stands before the house, so the router of the car is in our local network. I can also carry only the beamer in the house.) I actually filled the SD Card manually again because the download of one episode of an series (original quality) needs ~1 minute for download with emby. I watch the videos on the beamer normally with Kodi (and trakt-.tv plugin for knowing what is watched). Alternatively with vlc. So it looks i will keep gooing as in the past. Just now i have activated the Trakt plugin on my Emby/Server for my User... PS: Additionally i maybe will test the sync functionallity to the router in the car. It has also an SD-Card with a lot of space. But i like it more to have the videos local on the beamer. I had sometime audio problems when using wifi intensivly and playing the audio via bluetooth to the car audion systems in some areas with a lot of wifi usage...
